it's the first song I like in a long while, that and the fact that is was not good enough for the 2016 album make me optimistic. Maybe Richie was the one holding the band back
The pessimist in me has been accustomed to the notion that Jon isn't exactly great when it comes to selecting songs and singles.

Are you sure about that? There's been a lot of articles online but all of it pulls from the Billboard article, everything else has been speculation.

Any idea where it was confirmed? Because this would mean that the new album might include... Shock, horror.... rock music!

Sad that Richie left on the low point of WAN, especially when this trumps 90% of that album.

I wouldn't get too excited. 'Dirty Little Secret', one of the best tracks on HAND, was a bonus track.

Very true, unfortunately. He's too close to his own songs. He had no intention of releasing Always, but played it for a friend in the industry (can't remember who) who told him that song was a hit and it had to be released which is how it wound up on the greatest hits package. It became the biggest world wide hit of their career at the time.

And Becky's example is even better. He's renowned for having no clue when it comes to selecting the strongest material for singles and, perhaps even worse, almost leaving arguably some of the best tracks off of albums completely.

If Richie had not left, Jon would follow in his area conford, creating songs as what about now. Sambora is the one making a revolution, directly or indirectly. Jon has to make fortuitous changes. That is a good sign and progress.

In what way is he making a revolution?

It's a weird role for Shanks though, I know he's been a guitar player as long as he's been a producer but he's far more in demand as a producer.
This wouldn't be the first album to have two producers. Lost Highway was split.

They could just be working together and splitting up responsibilities too. For John to act as a writer for both songs and guitar parts (including some of the other instruments) as well as producing every little aspect of an album is a lot and Jon might not want that. It will be a John Shanks album featuring JBJ on vocals. He needs someone else in there.

Do you mean by richie leaving, Jon has had to take another look at the direction of the band and as a result he's written this different song?
