Agreed. And I think Jon should do more duets or anything to get his mind of from "being perfect".

I guess my personal notion is that he thinks too much about his performance. Which is understandable given his challenges, but this is also not new notion, same I had during last few tours. When he "forgets" his ailing voice, his performance tends to get better.

I've read from apparently insider on Reddit that he didn't allow public to enter audience of American Idol for like 2 hours before his one minute take of Legendary was perfectly trained. I applaud this perfectionism and hard work, but I think it takes mental toll too much. Case in point, Jon sounded better on both MusiCares and on American Idol (I know, low sample) on choruses of songs (harder to sing) then intro verses.

Yep and also the thing of the Jon’s recovery from the surgery made hype in my opinion.

I noticed that there were a lot of people on web that the mainly importance after they watched the documentary was if Jon’s voice now after two years was better.

This would have decided the destiny of the band and that has created hype.

Recently with Living Proof i seen a lot of people happy of that song, I seen a lot of comments like “he’s finally back!” and a lot of comments about his energy in his voice again…

The Documentary helped in my opinion…

And I agree, he's now gradually getting the confidence. But this gradual thinking is not really propelling his single choice (Legendary). Again, I understand and wouldn't change anything, cause bad promo is still bad.

That's why it was rational from his perspective to promote heavily the documentary, the band, his persona, whatever, to get back into public eye. But the main ingredient, the live performance of new stuff, has been missing, intentionally. While, again, understandable, it objectively means single suffers.
Yeah I agree this feels like the first album with an actual promo push since maybe....The Circle? Or at least a period of the band's history where all pistons are firing with actual interviews . I also couldn't tell you if he chose the single. Of the songs that we've heard, I still think Legendary made the most sense to release as single one as far as ear-worm and singability.

I just don't think promo has been bad at ALL this period. The live performance has been lacking, I agree BUT knowing what know about his voice then yeah, he's not going to ever be out doing radio and talk shows singing the new single to radio affiliates. Those days are long behind him especially as he recovers. He seems to be very choosy with what performance he does until he feels he's good and ready and I'm fine with that.

But, and we've all talked about this before, even if he was pushing only the new single I just don't think the world will care much. Just my opinion.

I don't disagree. I think this is the most promo as far as I can remember. If one disregards a lack of live promoting single choice, still promo around documentary is so heavy that it probably triumphs against anything since LH or something in those years.

And I don't begrudge that single is not live promoted, I understand it, I'm just pinpointing some caveats to that which objectively exist.

However, optimistically, I can see Jon going for more and more promo in future, perhaps acoustic with strong backup voices on Howard Stern, etc. Even, however unimaginable few years ago, he may (shockingly) enjoy it for a change.

Generally, anything basically where he can convey some smile and positivity is good. If he thinks this is to be done through interviews, then alright. But even now, sometimes he seems overly concerned, serious, etc. in live appereances which IMHO he should lose immediately.

When he has traces of having fun, he is really a beacon of charisma. When he takes himself too seriously, he's not doing any favors of promoting anything. To his defence, he does seem much less of a stress since at least The Circle

I think the promo has been great so far, personally. It's only going to pick up this week too.
Yeah, live performances are going to be limited but I feel the rest of it, they've nailed.

'We Made It Look Easy' music video is going to be edited with a lot of clips of the band throughout the years.
