It does seem a waste. It also means that any expletives etc will be bleeped out because it will be available to everyone. It would have made more sense to be me to release it as a deluxe version of the MSG DVD.
I guess they couldn't find any company willing to back it for a cinema release.

I'd love to see the documentary in a theater. The cities they list for the ticket give-away are:

Burlington, MA
Chicago, IL
Dallas, TX
Houston, TX
Austin, TX
Las Vegas, NV
Los Angeles, CA
Seattle, WA
St. Louis, MO
Washington, DC

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a list of other cities where it will be shown. If those are the only places, most of us are SOL. Let's see -- St. Louis is the closest for me. That's only a 550+ mile drive . . . each way! I think I'll wait for Showtime.

Thanks for the info, Deb. That's what I was afraid of. Too bad, because I would love the theater experience for this. But at least we have the Showtime option here in the U.S., and the DVD will be out soon.

Not sure I'd go even if it was - I'll watch it at home and and not have to worry about people talking, rustling sweet wrappers and playing with their mobile phones all the way through - wife and son will be banned!

Ok, showtime have declaired an online viewing event
but -
Will they actually show the movie online, or is it just a chat?

Can someone please try and get to the page they refer to:
http://www.sho.com/site/index.html
(you have to choose the Bon Jovi documentary from the list on the right side)

For some reason, I can't download that page, it gives me an unspecified error

Please please please - Can someone from outside the US try? I starting to think they block people from outside the US...

thanx

EDIT:
Nah, shit... This is why you get that:
Full episodes of Showtime programming on SHO.com are not available from your location. Please enjoy other exclusive video content, clips and more by clicking here.

EDIT2:
I got to that site throug the proxy. This is what it looks like:
