Default Which song do you like better, WWWU or Walls?

As the title says, this is about When We Were Us vs. Walls. Both songs are available in full legally now (well, depending on your timezone you might have to wait a couple more hours). Which one do you like better overall?

The feeling I have about Walls is almost the same I had when they released Because We Can. This is not what I expect or want from this band. At least BWC sometimes gets stuck in my head. Walls will probably never be this way.

I've been meh about WWWU since day one and have't been able to get Walls out of my head since that video of Phil recording that guitar lick. I'm Team Walls all the way.

Walls.

WWWU actually isn't that bad. But something about Walls got me straight away.

On the fence right now. I like that WWWU is unapologetically nostalgic and I'm a sucker for that kind of songs, but Walls is an effort to step a little outside the box and I like that more.

I'd chose Walls if it was only vaguely inspired by Imagine Dragons, right now is too much. And I haven't been able to remember the lyrics after like 10 listens, that's never a good sign.

Can it be both?

Walls by a country mile. WWWU is just What About Now for 2018, same cliches, same story told in the same way as many before it. They drunk that well dry long ago. But Walls, despite similar lyrics in places just sounds so much better and even fresh. Obviously light years away from anything pre-2005, but it's pretty strong for the post-WAN era.

They're both ok for what they are.

Agreed that WWWU is basically WAN (the song) part 2. Jon's really struggling vocally considering it's a studio recording. He sounds much better on Walls. The chorus is pretty catchy, but the verses are rather nondescript musically. The lyrics are probably dear to the guy but in terms of wording and all they don't stand out much to me. The solo doesn't live up to the buildup by the rather anticlimatic bridge. The short singalong at the end is a nice touch. The chimes or bells or whatever that is at the end (a keyboard most likely, but the soundfont I mean) kinda give it a Christmas-y vibe. Well, it's still winter I guess.

Walls actually starts with a riff and has a pretty cool atmosphere in verses. Lyrics are basically about nothing (well, I'm sure JBJ considers them political, but they're so general and lack the bite to really make it stick). The chorus is... I dunno, is the part right before THESE WAAAALLS also part of the chorus or is that a prechorus? 'cos that part is pretty weak. The THESE WAALLS part is okay though. Not as catchy as "when weee weeere yoooung", but does the job. So, better verses than WWWU, worse chorus (or half a chorus). Sounds less like the band but actually a bit more powerful. Solo is a lot better, it's not just random phrases but actually establishes a melody and varies it.

Walls is the one I'd rather listen to I guess. And yeah, I like Born Again Tomorrow.
