I think it's more complicated than that if this was all based around Richie coming back. Richie isn't going to rejoin and record/tour in support of an album he had little to do with (again), the albums not going to have song co-written and performed by the former lead guitarist. Whether or not Jon cared about the song is moot, I think it would have led to scrapping everything and starting from fresh if RS came back.

There's no world I can see Richie gave Jon some songs and that was it.

First, it'd require for John Shanks to be permanently banned from Bon Jovi, to have a discussion like that.
