1) Atheists believe that life is meaningless.

for this one, i think life very well could be meaningless. IF there was or is any set meaning to life we don't know it so it's a futile attempt to try to gain knowledge of the meaning of life. it is more plausible imo that we're born, we live and we die as opposed to having some sort of master plan.

2) Atheism is responsible for the greatest crimes in human history.

as the guy already said. fascism and communism were anti-religion but were fundamentally flawed for totally different reasons and most crimes and injustices carried out by these regimes were carried out for political and ideological, not aethist goals.

3) Atheism is dogmatic.



4) Atheists think everything in the universe arose by chance.

Not true and that's one of the mosta nnoying things about religious people who bring up the design and teleological arguments. the world is complex but the idea that this automatically means some divine creator is responsible is a major assumption that has no real proof.

5) Atheism has no connection to science.

science goes alot further to prove aethist belief (or disprove religious belief) the religious thought does.

6) Atheists are arrogant.

my god is the one true god, my religion is the one true religion, if you do not follow this you're destined for the fiery pits of hell. sounds a bit more arrogant than: there's no proof that any of this is true in my opinion

7) Atheists are closed to spiritual experience.

religion does not have the sole rights to spiritual experiences.

Atheists believe that there is nothing beyond human life and human understanding.

human life: no. once we go thats it.. i dont necesarilly see this as a bad thing as fatalist as it sounds. as for human understanding, i think there's an infinite amount of ideas beyond human understanding and striving to understand more about the world (which is what aethists tend to do) is alot more beneficial than being fed the story of the bible when you#re young and taking that at face value for life.

9) Atheists ignore the fact that religion is extremely beneficial to society.

ive never seen that argument. religion can and is beneficial to society on some levels and extremely detrimental to it in others.

10) Atheism provides no basis for morality.


i'd like to think of myself as a good person. i give to charity, i dont cheat on girlfriends, i tend to treat people as nicely as they deserve to be treated. surely it's better (and much more genuine) to be like this because you believe that you should be like that because it's right than because your minister tells you or your religion guilt trips you into it?
