Unhappy 20 young students shot in Montreal

A man who writes a blog on vampirefreak.com went in Montreal college yesterday, killed one student and injured 20 others. He was a gothic style man who liked black metal and fire guns. On his blog he was pictured with guns in his hands faking shooting the viewer.

He said he wanted to die under a rain of bullets. His favorite video games was Columbine's massacre. He hated people who makes sports and teachers. For his crime, he wore a blond mohawk and a long black trehchcoat. He was shot to dead by the police 15 minutes after he began to shoot.

I'm myself the director of the same level of school in the same province. I know personnaly the director of this school and the students are exactly like those I have in my school.

I just don't understand how someone could become so inhuman. I went on vampirefreak before, because someone I know keeps a blog there. I saw so weird people there I cannot describe. Long nails, make ups, all black, and a life philosophy too scary and sad in the same time.

Please if somewhere on the internet, you see someone who seems to thread other people who talks about suicide or murders, don't hesitate to call the police. This man did it on his blog and nobody noticed. He wrote messages on his blog 2 hours he went to shoot people. He spoke about cereals he ate in the morning and other boring things but before that he gave signals. i think we all have the responsability to detect those kind of people on the web.

Our planet doesn't need this kind of violence. Please pray for those people who are very shocked by this insanity.

Whenever anything like this happens its a sad event of course, but fortunately it sounds like he was as much of a bad shot as he was an idiot so there weren't as many fatalaties as there might have been, though not to take away from the fact that one person is dead and other seriously injured. I am rather shocked too to hear that there is a video game based on the Columbine massacre is that really true?

I will say though, not to condone actions like this, but just because people dress in black and are 'different' it doesn't mean we should call the police and such as this person recommends, no more than you'd suspect every young muslim man of being a terrorist or every blonde of being an idiot etc

I have to agree Neil - I think that's called paranoia. People can be very different without being violent. Unfortunately, violence is glorified in the media all the time - it doesn't surprise me that there is a Columbine Massacre video game. Some people will be drawn to this and cross the line. I doubt that there is any way of knowing who will or who won't. Chances are that if anyone was close to this individual they would have seen signs of an unstable or troubled person. But someone - such as a parent or a close friend would have to care enough to try to get involved and help this person out and that isn't always easy.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon watching live updates from CBC. Even though I wasn't old enough to remember, I immediately thought of the tragedy at Ecole Polytechnique.

There was definitely a subdued atmosphere on my university campus today. A tragedy such as this reminds us that schools are really the only institutional public space where we aren't truly safe. I heard one sociology professor on the news last night claim that we need to have more security measures in our schools, such as metal detectors and fingerprint scanning, from the highest educational instutionals right down to your elementary schools.

I wonder if Canada has that effect on people at the moment... :-/

The murders that happened at the hotel I work at on monday were really scary too. I shivered almost all day & even though my bosses said not to worry I couldn't stop shaking. I thought the murderer might still be in the hotel & maybe I even checked him in...

This is a really sad event ... but please don't condemn anyone who's a bit different as "weird, scary and sad" .... I'm a member of Vampire Freaks myself, and don't believe I'm anything like that

Seems people always go out of the way to blame cultural influences

I couldn't believe when I saw the news about that shooting, Jana. I was literally sitting there eating my breakfast and went "Holy crap! That's where Jana works!!"

Do they have any idea what happened yet?
