Alternet is an online community of the alternative press, featuring news stories from alternative newsweeklies, magazines and web publications. It's an award-winning news magazine and online community that creates original journalism and amplifies the best of hundreds of other independent media sources. AlterNet's aim is to inspire action and advocacy on the environment, human rights and civil liberties, social justice, media, health care issues, and more. Since its inception in 1998, AlterNet.org has grown dramatically to keep pace with the public demand for independent news. We provide free online content to millions of readers, serving as a reliable filter, keeping our vast audience well-informed and engaged, helping them to navigate a culture of information overload and providing an alternative to the commercial media onslaught. Our aim is to stimulate, inform, and instigate.

Therefore not taking any side but aiming to provide real news as opposed to what you're fed on TV - it's indeed very understandable you don't like it.

Yeah, real independant and fair "news" site. The front page is over 9000 anti-McCain stories.

I don't have any problem with partisan news sites, but I do have a problem when they try and pass themselves off as fair and balanced. Just like the news on the television, or the radio. If as a media outlet you're in the tank for someone, just announce and and give up the lying.

Well it's not their fault if one of the 2 candidates is talking more crap than the other and doesn't necessarily realise it!
Of course they're gonna have a field day.

100% agree . I also dont think borrowing $700 billion is going to help either. Are they just going to print off a load more money and devalue the currancy ??

I think he's a chickenshit weasel. I think the entire party is using this situation (due to their own mishandling and greed mind you) as a vehicle for their own purposes.

For anyone who saw the Late Show last night, I think Letterman's guest, Keith Olbermann who stepped up for McCain, hit the nail on the ultimate reason for this suspension: cancelling the VP debate.

We'll soon know if he was right...

Attention grabbing stunt. Probably in poor taste.

It's not going to help, and yes they will. Government is a disease masquerading as its own cure.

And then they'll schedule the Presidential debate in the time of the vice-presidential debate and guess what - they won't find the time to actually have a vice-Presidential debate.
