The Democrats have been the only party in the past 10 years to even bring up the draft. Republicans have never touched it despite their much more militant stance. Now the rockstar of the Democrat party is bringing it up again. Don't know why, but those are the facts.

Mandatory universal volunteerism is the most ass-backward misuse of the English language I've heard in a long time. If he wants to provide opportunities for volunteering, that's terrific. If not, well, the 13th Amendment is the only thing that keeps him from mandatory volunteerism on a cotton plantation, he should have more respect for it.

One more time, with feeling... Just like calling him Hanoi John *hack*spit* using the Obamination's middle name is just a sign of disrespect. I don't give a damn if he's black, white, arab, muslim, christian, australian, WHATEVER. I care that he's an enemy of my country, and as such, no sign of disrespect is inappropriate.

Was that sentence intended to be as ironic as it reads?

would anyone say i was being disrespectful if i said john fitzgerald kennedy or franklin delano roosevelt during one of my lessons?

of course not, the only reason using obama's middle name is disrespectful is because alot of knuckledragger go y know what that sounds awful lot like an a-rab name he must be a muslim.

you can spin it any way you want adrian but that's exactly what it is exactly the kind of people you are lumping yourself in with.

No Adrian! People with your mentality are enemies of your country. People with your outlook on life and society are the reason for which the republicans can not progress and have to address social issues that belong to the previous century. It's because of such mindsets that Europeans dislike a country that once was their best friend. If I am hoping for something from Obama's presidency is that he will manage to change republican voters a bit. Because republicans will stagnate as long as their electorate is deeply convinced that going to church every Sunday is more important than getting a proper education. It's time for a change and I think Barack Obama can bring it. And it takes a lot of self-discipline to admit it, considering that my heart always beats for the right.

Not only will they stagnate by refusing to have open minds their approach to finance is rather naive. Witness the recent statement by Alan Greenspan saying that he was shocked - yes shocked - that corporations couldn't police themselves. I know the Republicans are terrified of socialism (except when it comes to womens bodies - then government intervention seems to be ok) but total deregulation has put our economy in the toilet. Here is Greenspan's article from today:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/bu...4panel.html?hp

And a very telling quote:

“I made a mistake in presuming that the self-interests of organizations, specifically banks and others, were such as that they were best capable of protecting their own shareholders and their equity in the firms,” Mr. Greenspan said.

there is story in UK papers today , Obama and Mcain are both left handed, 4 out of 5 presidents are left handed... weird, in ratio there arent that many lefties.... so this brings me tothe conclusion aliens have taken over the bodies of those running for president and the only side effect is left handiness !

There's nothing wrong with my outlook on life and society. I and many others believe in personal responsibility and liberty above all, as enshrined in the United States Constitution. Obama isn't going to change the conservative electorate's belief in that - and if he tries to destroy it, he's going to find out exactly how strong that belief is held.

Fortunately, our freedoms are not up for world review and approval, and world opinion counts for nothing at the ballot box. And if the rest of the world hates a mindset of individual responsibility and liberty, their "progressive" collective can bite me.

In reality, I'm from the "leave me the hell alone" party. Only problem is they haven't had a candidate win in decades, so I'm forced to ally myself with lesser evils in order to slow the progress of those I really oppose.

I'm not selfish. I just don't see the personal lives of 300,000,000 Americans as being the responsibility of the federal government. I believe in small goverment and the ability of every man and woman on this planet to run their lives with the minimum amount of interference from anyone else. The use of government force for anything other than the absolute minimum to keep society running is tyranny.
