Following Penrose's lead yet again, are we???
Penrose is fine, he has his own opinion about stuff and not one that was invisibly implanted by the media.
I was referring to the fact that Penrose DOES have his own opinions. You are the one who likes to FOLLOW him.
Where do you get your information in order to form your opinions?? Just curious.
Where everyone else does... But I also learned I need to filter that information, choose which sources to trust, what to believe. Analyze it every single moment. After all the BS is filtered out, I synthesise my opinions from the remaning info
How do you decide which sources to trust? What makes a source trustworthy in your opinion?
Past experience of course.... those sources which proved to be accurate in the past are more trustworthy than the others. You need to constantly evaluate the sources.
How do you determine whether it is accurate or just propaganda?
Friday... The Coalition control Basra...
Saturday... fierce resistance in Basra....
Sunday.... The Coalition control Basra...
Monday... fierce resistance in Basra....
Tuesday... The Coalition control Basra...
This is apparently propaganda. It will be a fact one day, but 99% of the time it will be propaganda. Also, interactive media are less likely to be used for propaganda, since they are two-way media. TV is only one-way media so it just "feeds" you with stuff... Such media are far more effective for propaganda purposes.
But it is true you can't always determine what was the truth and what not... you need to have some sort of intuition or maybe logic for it. The most simple example would be reports about casualties: US say 1 helicopter, 0 planes and 2 soldiers, Iraqis say 5 helicopters, 2 planes, 20 soldiers.... and you should assume both are lying and assume the truth is somewhere in the middle...
