And my father, AN AMERICAN, was shot doing just that - protecting your country! How dare you come on here and start whining that a few uninformed Americans (please stop using the term "yank" or "gimp") that weren't even born at the time (including you) decided to play the "I can piss higher that you" game and upset you cuz they didn't have all the facts straight. This happened a long time ago and even my father (who is no longer alive) got over it. He was shot but he was the lucky one. Two of his best friends that he was with were killed along with thousands of brave soldiers (no matter what country they were from) who also fought valiantly in this war to save your country!

Goose, I'm sorry but this really hits a nerve when you have nothing else to contribute than your obvious hatred of Americans. Sorry we piss you off so badly that you can't seem to say one nice thing on this board to anyone!

Yes, America joined World War II in order to protect Britain.

The war also started in 1941.

thats not whats being discussed here...this was relating to a specific topic, untill you decided to change what I was saying to suit what you wanted to say..
Yes it is! You were saying Americans don't know history because they changed the facts. I was saying it's not because they're Americans, but because they're human. If you want to think that every bad single bad thing comes from America, it's fine. But it's very narrow-minded too.

Who said that?

And btw, although the whole thing started 1939, it actually wasn't a global war until 1941.

Read my first sentence, and maybe that will answer your question.

I mean just how the **** did you save my country?!? The invasion of Britain was called off long before America joined the ****ing war.. but once again, thanks for proving me right

lets see, Africa..by the time the US got involved we already had Rommel on the backfoot..

America did not get to Europe until July 1942, their airforce was still not ready by then. Britain were at war with Germany from 3rd September 1939, and they were fighting on their own in the air over western Europe until late 1942. America were not involved in ground battles until 1943.
However, the Royal Navy was helping America fight Japan in the oceans and on the land. Britain sunk more Axis tonnage than any other nation.

So how exactly did you save my country from invasion from the germans..? how exactly did you win the battle of britain? Thats what this topic is about..
