Default A reminder to count to ten before you lose your temper

Raw Story: Former NASCAR racing champion Tony Stewart hit and killed a driver who left his damaged car mid-race at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park in upstate New York, US media reported Sunday...

Stewart...first bumped the victim’s car and knocked it out of the late Saturday race. On his next time around the track Stewart then struck the driver when the victim left his car to confront the (former) NASCAR champion on the dirt track...

Fans and witnesses said the victim was Kevin Ward Jr, 20... Stewart, 43, did not appear to have been injured... (The) police questioned and released him...

My knowledge of auto racing is limited to what I see on the sports reports, but I have noticed an increase in stories about physical altercations between the drivers -- I've even seen one involving a female driver! They've always taken place AFTER the race, however.

If Ward had stayed by his car and waited for assistance instead of going into Mister Macho Hard-Ass Tough Guy mode, maybe he and Stewart could have settled their differences over a beer...

Here's a tale about two golf caddies mixing it up:
Quote:
(United States) Professional Golf Association Tour player Marc Leishman said that his caddie, Matt Kelly, wasn't to blame for the bagman brawl Thursday between Kelly and James Nitties's caddie, Grant Buchanan, at the Australian Open...

The two caddies came to blows near a chipping area of the Lakes course in Sydney just before the start of the first round of the tournament...punches (were) thrown before the pair fell to the ground and continued wrestling in front of players and spectators...

(T)he incident stemmed from an altercation between the pair at the Star casino earlier in the week..."Matt was a good friend of mine, (or) so I thought,'' Buchanan said. ''He said some things that offended me and I approached him to clarify it and clear the air, and he pretty much laughed in my face."

..."I was there and he (Kelly) didn't do anything,"...Leishman said..."He stood there, copped what he got and didn't do anything apart from that. I was proud of him, to be honest."

Tournament director Andrew Langford-Jones said...disciplinary action would be determined within a week.
I can't find any info about the outcome. And I don't care who threw the first punch -- I care that these two were "discussing" something that had absolutely nothing to do with the tournament while they were "on duty."

The key is, WHY did Buchanan confront Kelly -- because he was still angry about things that Kelly had said previously, or because Kelly began provoking him right there in the chipping area? That part of the story isn't clear. But if it was the former, Buchanan's the one who should have been sacked; and if it was the latter, both of them should have gone!
