i love ticket to ride but come together is a great beatles track to rock up. you should try it with an electric guitar playing the bass lick too and then a big chorus with power chords.

i dont like playin beatles, its same with the stones

that's such a horrible cliche' especially when it's about the beatles and stones, none of which are particularly hard to pull of good versions of their songs.

both wrote great songs but werent exactly the hardest to play along with, thats part of their charm.

call me an egotist but i'd rather listen to our version of come together over the beatles.

i'm glad your gig went well, sounds as if it was fantastic. god i wish i was in a band again. a uqestion to everyone here, what sort of setlists you come up with? i mean do you stick to all the usual suspets that have been done by every other covers band on the planet or do you go for some lesser known songs that you know, but the crowd might not.(i.e gaz you played damned, nobody else but bj fans are gonna know that). If you do go fro the unusual choices, how do the crowd react?

well usually we play our songs with a few well known ones if the corwd arent diggin it, i can usually tell within the first 3 songs if the gigs goin well if not i change the set

as for damned in my opinion its a good upbeat song that gets the crowd going to me if the song isnt well known its an advantage sometimes because a few mistakes may go unnoiticed or some people may think you have wrote it lol

for my acoustic stuff i start off with a few quicker uopbeat ones, stick a few slower downbeat ones in the middle, have a cover or two in after that, one or two of the best ones i do and then finish off with a cover of either jeff buckleys hallelujah or david ford's i dont care what you call me depending on how the crowd is.

we threw in a couple of requests in the 2nd set too

i hate doin well known songs because when we play them the solos are completely different plus half of the time we go off on a tangent and may play a different song

example: sometimes we play 3AM MB20 then go into i remember you skid row

when we play everythin is spontaneous and because im the singer i call the shots and the band is really tight so most of the time we get away with it

also when we play it makes things much more interestin because depending on my mood and the variety of songs we know it could be anything lol

times like that ,make you love bein in a band

i like having a setlist because it's thought out and there's no dead air between songs.

it's almost like a template y know.

1st few songs: easy ones you can ease yourself into the gig with and get comfortable

middle of 1st set: throwawy tunes that wont really fit in at the end of the night

end of 1st set: a big number to keep peopl einterested and want to stay for the 2nd set. our version of drift away is pretty amazing imo.

2nd set: start off with a big one to grab their attention back

punk bit to liven the crowd up

singalong and dancey songs to get people into it



plus you can always change them up depending on how the gig is going and what the crowd are after.
