Yeah, I have to say that the new Ovation acoustic plays very well. The treble seems a little touchy when its plugged in though. It's either too lacking or, when you try and restore a little more balance by adjusting the high end on either the amp or the on-board EQ controls, it comes out a little too harsh. Might be a case of running it through the right amp - it's currently set up through my Fender Stage 100 which is obviously designed with electric guitars in mind as opposed to electro-acoustic.

I'm gonna adjust the action height on it shortly as well cos the factory settings are a little too high for my liking but I haven't had time to get around to unstringing it and removing some of the strips under the saddle yet.

A great guitar though!! I love it!

Pretty off topic but I have an acoustic, not an Ovation, that has a sound I like until I plug it in and it's way too treble like. Is this a common problem for acoustic/electrics to have?

can't say i've really noticed mine being too trebly. My other electro-acoustic does seem have trouble with the treble when it's plugged in, so it could be a common problem or it could be just what your guitar made out of and pickups. i've tried other ovation copies and they've deffinately needed treble boosts so i'm not entirely sure.

RS8, aswell as taking out the strips under the bridge, there is also a possibility of filing some of the actual bridge down to get it even lower. mine is really low now. what i found strange is that the instruction manual said if you lower the strings and you get fret buzz then this doesn't mean that it's a fault, but surely if you're getting fret buzz it means that it's too low?

what kind of marshall is it?

on my avt if you DI out, you'll still gets ound coming from the amp providing the master volume is up. turn it down there's no amp sound but it's still runnign intot he desk.

personally i love recording with the thing melting your face.

one of the most fun recordings ive ever done was a few weeks ago laying down a bass part on honky tonk women for a demo we're doing because it was running through an amp, into the desk and was coming through a big wedge monitor so you could feel as well as hear it pounding away

on a slightly shit note. we had a guy called brian that drummed for us a few years back who's brother eddie went to school with me and my twin bro.

i dunno exactly what happened but eddie got into a fight the next scheme over here the other night, sustained massive head injuries and died in hospital that night.

it's a shame cause eddie was a bit of a nutter but brian was fine for the most part but i can see a whole lot of shit escalating as a result of this and just hope brian's sensible enough to let the cops deal with it.

i'm using a marshall mg80cd. i've tried with the master vol down and still nothing comes through the recorder. could it be a faulty connnection on the line out or possibly my guitar lead? should i be using a proper amp lead?

i just use guitar leads for my out.

check it going from guitar to amp to see if it's the lead.

if not it sounds like it's the line out.

is it a stereo or mono out? mine is stereo and i think it's only the left one it works in mono with....

it's not the greates guitar lead in the world so it could be that. will have another play with it tonight to see if i can sort it.

Just another question to everyone, i'm trying to build my reptoire of acoustic singalongs so i was wondering if you had any suggestions for good songs to learn, i'm fed up of people saying can you play this and i say no, then i play them something and they've never heard of it.

there's tonnes of stuff that translates well onto acoustic just as a straight conversion from the electric part.
