Well this thread disappeared very quickly!

Here's a new addition though - Harlem Rain intro on the new acoustic. Only 30 seconds as I didn't have the time to record the entire track - bloody uni work!!

I think the thread died after the gaz thomas scandal. which is a shame.

nice playing though on harlem rain, did you do it in stanadard tuning because i remember reading somewhere that richie played it open D. i could be mixed up with another song though.

Yeah, I play it in open D tuning too. It's the easiest song in the world once the tuning has been sorted. No key changes like in 'The Answer' which was a sod to learn!!

k you've just convinced me that i'm probably playing it wrong now but i always play the answer in standard tuning and it sounds fine except for the 2nd chord between the verse and chorus which is some weird B.....

i shoul dbe getting my drums sorted tomorrow and ready to lay stuff down on sunday. is there anything in particular you want to hear?

Sorry - I didn't mean that I played 'The Answer' in open D too. I meant that I always placed 'Harlem Rain' on a pedastal as though it was a bloody difficult track to learn, harder than 'The Answer' which took me a fair few attempts, but since stumbling upon the correct tuning, most of 'Harlem Rain' is open strings making for nice, easy playing!

Jim, if you wanna lay down a rough KTF drumbeat (possibly get your bro to play over the top on guitar or, if it's easier, get a usable midi file and have it just audible in the background so we can hear what your actually drumming over the top) and maybe a wee solo or something on their too. Obviously it's just to give us a general idea so I don't want you slaving away all weekend laying down track after track mate! Something short and representative of the sort of style you'd play for Jovi stuff would be enough to give us an idea! If the guys are happy, we'll then arrange an audition session for you - we now adopt the whole, 'demo first, then audition' even if we have a lot of interest cos we're just fed up of wannabe-drummers applying!

My dad always said that drummers are hard to find and, when we started out, we were absolutely inundated with applications which left me feeling that he was talking b*****ks. We all soon learnt that he was, in fact, spot on! Lots of people who think they can drum but actually can't keep a steady beat going or adopt the right tempo which, to be honest, I would consider to be pretty key attributes for anybody who steps behind a kit.

Do you have the official tab book for 'Stranger in this Town' btw? If you want me to give you the position of the chord you mean, just give us a shout and I'll list what the book says for you.

cool ktf was what i was thinking about laying down. was just listening to a few live versions of it 2 minutes ago actually.

ill run a version of it from my ipod through my bro's desk and into the recorder then drum over it because i've just realised he doesnt know half as much bon jovi stuff as i thought he did.

just now for the bridge between verse and chorus in the answer i'm playing:

A

then

-0-
-2-
-2-
-2-
-2-
-0-

so it's really A with a B in the bass. it's as close as i've been able to get it but i still dont think its 100% right.

as for drummers being useless. i couldn't agree more. i could tell you some stories about drummer's weve went through. when i told my girlfriend i would be laying down a demo for you guys she said: you're always slagging drummers and sayign their idiots so why do you want to be one? to which i replied: i'm a guitarist 1st and foremost so i'm not prone to the drummer gene which makes them all morons

Yeah, what is it with drummers?!?! - although, saying that, some singers share the same gene too, I'm sure (although thankfully, not ours!!)!

Just send over the mp3 over once you laid it down and we'll have a listen mate.

As for 'The Answer', in the pre-chorus where it goes, "Now the years roll on, tired voices have all gone....," the book says:

Code:
Pre-chorus 1:

    A Bm7
E---------------------------------------------------
B---------------2-----2-----------------3-----3-----
G---2-----2--------2-----2--2-----2-----------2-----
D------2-----2-----------------4-----4-----4-----4--
A---0-----------------------2-----------------------
E---------------------------------------------------

Pre-chorus 2 (just before the key change):

    A5
E---------------------------------------------------
B---2-----2-----2-----2-----3-----3-----3-----3-----
G---2-----2-----2-----2-----2-----2-----2-----2-----
D------2-----2-----2-----2-----4-----4-----4-----4--
A---0-----------------------0-----------------------
E---------------------------------------------------
