You can compare the two. The government is banning ephedra because of its apparent detrimental effects on health. In other words, its being banned because some irresponsible people use it to achieve a constant high. However, hundreds of thousands of people use alcohol and tobacco every day to achieve a high, and they use it so much that it causes health problems way beyond that of ephedra. Why arent alcohol and tobacco being banned because of their detrimental effects on health? Why isn't fast food, and saturated and trans fat being banned. McDonalds are allowed to promote their food as family meals, yet they cause thousands of people to end up on operating tables or in coffins every year.

Aswell as this, the fact that ephedra does have health benefits by reducing fat levels, and ultimately reducing blood pressure, reducing heart rates, and increasing overall physical aswell as mental health, are being completely ignored, because of the deaths of a few, many of whom had health problems such as hypertension or pre-existing heart conditions.

Because there are no claims that any of this is good for you. You are not taking it thinking it will help with anything.

They still can't use it, despite the fact that its not addicting, has medicinal side-effects, and is less harmful than cigarettes.
And you were doing so so well!!!!

Because there are no claims that any of this is good for you. You are not taking it thinking it will help with anything.
And yet you're still allowed to take it.....

Yes, because it is not false advertising.

Well thats kind of the idea! Ephedra contains ephedrine, which, as a stimulant causes elevated heart rate and blood pressure, and increases metabolism. If you start feeling uncomfortable, then you should take a smaller dose.

There is no false advertising on products containing ephedra. They are labelled as thermogenics, which as anybody who does any amount of research knows, will raise blood pressure and heart rate. It shouldn't be an unexpected effect.
