Because there are no claims that any of this is good for you. You are not taking it thinking it will help with anything.
And yet you're still allowed to take it.....
Yes, because it is not false advertising.
There is no false advertising on products containing ephedra. They are labelled as thermogenics, which as anybody who does any amount of research knows, will raise blood pressure and heart rate. It shouldn't be an unexpected effect.

But death is an unexpected effect.

Death is almost always unexpected. People die in unexpected circumstances all the time, whether it be from getting hit by a car, or breaking your neck in a fall, or from a heart condition or hypertension that is escalated by taking a dietary supllement that quite clearly should not be taken with those health conditions. Do you see my point? Billions of people have used this product with no problems, yet the US government feels the need to ban it. Its harking back to a thread on this forum called "should everything be banned" or something like that. There are thousands of things in this world that cause deaths, directly or indirectly, but are they banned? No, because that is taking away our basic right of freedom. Why is ephedra singled out?

It is singled out b/c in the end, herbal or not, it is just a drug. One that you don't need a prescription for and has some extreme side effects.

Just like Alcohol, tobacco, paracetamol, ibuprofen, aspirin and a hundred other non-prescription drugs that can have extreme side effects if used irresponsibly.

Well, the studies I've read tell a bit of a different story about it being addicting. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, it seems like all articles are slanted. It is less harmful than alcohol, I know that much, yet alcohol isn't banned. When we tried that, we got the same results that we're getting with the drug war.
