Default Americans: clothes sizes?

k so I'm wanting to order a couple of t shirts online but I'm thinking our sizes might be different.

I don't want to get a medium and have it hanging round me like a parachute so whats roughly chest sizes for small and medium t shirts in the states?

what size do you wear over there? Doesn't the website provide any guidance?

My son [8] wears M in concert shirts and it isn't a parachute for him either, just comes down to his knees. I don't think that there is so much of a difference in chestsize (maybe an inch or so) as it is a matter of length.

I can measure some for you once I get home.

What are you going to order?

I think I'm going to order a coupla OCC t shirts for the gym and going on holiday so i want them to be fairly tight.

problem is a medium won't be tight I'm sure of that but if they're the same size a small will be too tight.

It's only chest size I'm wondering about. length won't be a problem.

I told you I'll measure the M tonight.

Also, I don't think our sizes necessarily run bigger, but we just have more (ie. XXXL )
