Actually, the majority did not take your post quite so seriously. Yes, some people here agree with some of your points, especially about George W., but the rest went unnoticed. I think you have lost your little "edge" which is kind of amusing.
The thread is 7 pages long. Now, back to the topic.
Yes, it is. Check out the content of those 7 pages. As I have said, your influence isn't what it used to be, and your views are not shared by as many people as you would like to think.
I have never posted with the intention of getting others to agree with me. I have always posted to start debate. Do you honestly think that when I said that Bon Jovi were racists, I thought that anyone would agree with me?

The majority of people that were here a year ago are here now. The "shock value" has worn off and become tiresome.
Maybe yes, but when BJ is busy like on your, more people came visiting this site and checked the NBJ section too, lots of people we didn't know back then also posted in the topic. Most of them didn't stay. That's what I meant.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

you clearly state it yourself....ego boost...hey people are still talking about what I wrote last week...no more no less than a Janet Jackson "accidentally" exposing a (fake) tit. And as Mouse has pointed out, a good part of what has been written was actually not in reference to what you first said. I for one didn't even go as far as the third paragraph...why waste your time when all you need to do is use that handy search feature and dig up posts from 12,10, 6 or 3 months ago....

Sorry but this looks like your personal cold turkey. The appeal (provided it ever did have one to people) faded away long ago. But if this your thing, keep these enlightening posts coming.

Yes your thread has grown an extra post now. I thought you might like to know this

I posted what others wanted to say. They took it from there.

America is not as big as many people think. Many maps increase the size of many northern hemisphere nations (like the US), and decrease the size of other nations*. The truth is that most people in America live within a two hour flight of a foreign country. Also, flying to Europe is not expensive. Every time I flew to your capital Washington DC (from Manchester), I payed less than £200 return. Get off your lazy arses and go somewhere. Like someone said earlier, you don't have to. But you should.

*Alaska is not larger than Mexico. China is actually four times larger than Greenland. Australia is more than 3 times as large as Greenland. South America is almost twice the size of Europe. Looking at the following map these facts don't seem correct, but they are:

I believe this is the kind of out-of-date map found in most US schools. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Now this is downright hilarious. How about doing a search and see how projections of a sphere onto a plane work?
And in any case this particular projection doesn't "increase the size of many Northern hemisphere nations (like the US) but in fact increase the perception of the area occupied by the lands distant from the Equator Line. The top and bottom edges are actually two single points, hmmm the two Poles. This is one of the many projections used to graphically give a representation of the Globe (horror! I split an infinitive...Lord have mercy!). You make a political issue out of a geometrical, mechanical, act. This is very interesting and anthropoligists might be interested in researching this kind of behavio(u)r thoroughly. We'll be on the lookout, rest assured!

But now you're going to be telling me that you knew all of this and just wanted to trick some people into believing who knows what, stir things up, increase your thread size and all of that stuff.
To each their own I think they say.....

It would be extremely interesting to see China and America go to war.

hehe, nice post, yeah.

to explain it in more detail to krb:
this mercator projection was invented actually for shipping navigation, because you can draw a straight line on these maps, then use your compass and sail all the way in this direction, you only have to check the angle once, when you start your trip.

today it isn't used for navigation anymore, because ships, and planes etc. sail, fly, ... on the shortest line, which isn't a straight line in this mercator projection. computers are callculating the angles for them all the time, and they have to change the them steadily during the trip. this would have been impossible before such computers were invented.

but still this isn't an out-of-date map, cause it still can be used for many things, because it preserves the angles in the projection from the shere to the plane, while the area preserving projections do not preserve the angles.

again: every map has it's advantages and disadvantages. otherwise you have to use a globe and not a map, but you can't put a globe in a book...

you know, responses to this kind of topic are always interesting. People launching into attacks on a persons intelligence for example, lets not forget krb is using the great bastion of Freedom of speech (one that Bushchimp never seems to stop harping on about..) he is free to say what he thinks of America, just as you are free to say what you think of him. However if someone posted a topic "Britains this is why people are laughing at you.." etc, I know for fact krb wouldnt just jump in with some crazy knee-jerk overly patriotic response, he would discuss it..and you know it too. Its a shame that a certain group of people cant take criticisms of their country without resorting to insults, that just makes it look like you are unable to defend the country you love so much in a proper way.
