If you want reasons AGAINST it, then I can't really help, but I was wondering what subject this is. It seems you are having trouble with it if you have to ask us all the time, lol.

Maybe I should start posting math equations, lolal.

Choc, remember this story about a kid who was killed by a policeman, he thought the kid had a real gun, it's was a fake one, but it looked like a real one ... the policeman was surprised, i can't remember more about this sad story, maybe someone could help ?? But after that, they decided the guns (toy) will be with colors and things special to make them look like toys !

we have too much of a gun culture - that is ONE source of the problem... i played with them... but the existence of them is bad enough...

that sounds a little like the source of Springsteen's 41 Shots AMerican Skin song

but that was a wallet not a toy gun

personally, i didn't want to leave James play with guns, but maybe when he was 4, someone gave him his first one ! a birthday present or something, and he played with them with some friends when he was at their places in any case, so ... Then i chose to ask him, when he plays with a gun to not point it to the face of a person for exemple , and he knows i don't want to hear things like "you're gonna die" or "i'm gonna kill you" etc ..., he has lots of this things now, of different sort but it's ok until he uses them like toys ... you know my kids use to have fights with swords too (plastic ones ), yesterday Rachel who's 2.5 years old gave a blow on her brother's head !! and the other day in the face, his lips was bleeding ... but it's the same thing when they play with a ball !!! or base-ball or cricket ...
But my kids know i like guns too, i don't have a real one at home ! but my father always had some arms at home so as my uncles ... and i grew up in funfairs, it was completely normal for us (the kids from the families of the funfair) to touch the rifles .... and we were really good, more than the adults ! same for the knifes that's another story !
But the fact i've always seen guns etc ... around me, i think it influenced me and if i wasn't "clever enough" to not do the same thing with my kids, they might like all this too, and i can say i don't want to see them like weapons of any sorts ! i'm a mother and of course i'm scared for them ... but now, they are proud of me when i win lots of prices on funfairs

i hate guns. i can't stand to be near one. I don't even want my brother to play with his bbgun, because i don't know how responsible he is with it! I hate it when my uncles, dad, cousins, and sisters go out hunting, because i just think someone is going to accidently shot someone else. I think it has to do a lot with my not trusting them with their own lifes...

I heard a story once of how my uncle was coming home from holiday in Cyprus (he was onlya kid at the time, early 1980's) and he had bought some replica guns. They look pretty real, I have seen them, but not too realistic; easy to tell they're fake.

He apparently got stopped by the security guys at the airport there, or I should say his dad (my grandad) got stopped by the security men. They couldn't speak much English, and they got him to open the bag, and he was just trying to show them that they where fakes, but they apparently had their own weapons trained on him, and where about to arrest him, or so I believe. After they found that they where toys, they where still paranoid, so they gave them to the pilot, who would give them back upon returning home. When getting off the plane, the pilot apparently chased after them to return the guns, as they'd got off the plane without them. Imagine being shouted after by a pilot "You forgot your guns", although nowadays they'd have probably arrested you.
