I heard that its unlucky to wear the colour green on St. Patrick's Day.

Anyway, Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Well there are quite a few people with Irish ancestors here in Canada, so I don't mind them celebrating it.

But I get your point Jim, I was truely pissed at how different companies with big marketing tried to impose Halloween as a tradition in France (some even saying it had French origins ) when no one knew about it 10 years before. It got bigger and bigger for 2 or three years but collapsed last year, to my great satisfaction.

It's big in Buffalo but then again it's so friggin' cold out that we'll use any excuse to drink & keep warm - LOL! Tomorrow's excuse will be because it's Thursday!

My roommate actually came up with something intelligent about St. Patrick's Day. She said the actually holiday should be the 18th of March, since every one goes into work hungover anyway.

I think we should celebrate everything if we want !
I remember going to the zone on St. Patrick's Day once a few years ago and it was great is it still there or is it called something different now?

We went to an Irish pub yesterday evening, it was really nice, they were happy to have us "non french" there (well my husband and our irish friends)
They put some good music, offered a pint, it was a good occasion for doing something, and the weather was nice, we stayed outside. St Patrick or not, it gave us "a reason" to spend this nice evening

where on earth did you get the idea that the irish hate the scots jim?

your nearly right tash.......st patrick brought christianity to ireland...the snakes were a symbol of paganism and it was the pagans who were driven out...he also used the shamrock to explain the trinity....he died on the 17th march....and celebrating st patricks day is not just about drinking.....its also about our culture......besides....we irish dont need an excuse to go and get drunk
