Apparently, the news is that Kelly has relented and will allow the show to use her songs.

As for Zachary...wow is all I gotta say.

There was that little country boy from that little country family. Had his hat on and everything. I liked him.... He's got potential!

For anyone who loves this show it is FINALLY going to get good. No more cringe-worthy auditions. All the bad singers are gone and as Simon would say the real competition begins now. Hollywood Round starts tonight! I can't wait

I haven't been enjoying AI as much this year. To me, it's just been one bad singer after another for comedy value. I've seen one person so far who I've liked:the undertaker.

These shows basically go through the same audition process as most manufactured bands, but somehow they stretch it out over half a year instead of a few days, and a year after the winner is forgotten usually.

My mum and sister somehow manage to watch these shows but I can't stand them. Sure they do often manage to find someone who can actually sing, but even that is stretched out too much after the first half of the run which is just idiots who think they are great but in truth they are tone deaf.

You'd wonder how these people didn't get told by a friend or family member before going to audition and get humiliated on national tv. If I knew someone was going for it but couldn't sing I'd sure as hell tell them.

The only way a show like that would be interesting is if it was shorter, perhaps 4-6 shows over a month, and they found people who could write, sing and play instruments to form a band, instead of just trying to get some crap pop act to get a few #1 singles and make some money for the record companies.

I agree the auditions have gone on waaaaay too long... I am really sick of them. That is why I said it is FINALLY going to get good tonight now that they are in Hollywood. I haven't really seen anyone I like either but they haven't shown everyone who made it through to Hollywood. I do agree the undertaker guy was good.. he had a nice voice and was a cutie pie.

As for why don't family members tell the bad singers how bad they are it is the producers who send them through to see the judges on purpose. The bad singers are in there for 1. comic value and for Simon to make comments about, 2. for people to talk about ie. OMG did you see that girl on AI last night what was she thinking? , and 3. RATINGS RATINGS RATINGS. American Idol has been drawing like 30 million viewers per show and has been #1 in the ratings I think every night it has aired so far.

I do get annoyed with it when bad singers stay in too long. Last year for example when Scott and Anthony outlasted Constantine I was livid. I know it is just a TV show but tons of people were ridiculously mad. I also think the voting system sucks when the teeny bopers vote for their favorite guy like 10,0000 times (Anyone remember John Stephens the 16 year old red head Frank Sinatra wanna be from season 3 who couldn't sing AT ALL ?) He made it to the top 6 I think and then started receiving death threats or something crazy like that.. yes people are wacko!)

Usually, I agree, the winners suck. Out of the four years it has been on the only winner I liked and has not been forgotten by the public was Kelly Clarkson. I think she's awesome. I hated Ruben, Fantasia was even worse and I am not a big Carrie fan. But the show is addicting ... I really cannot not watch it once it starts I get hooked.

What I mean is, if I had a friend who I knew couldn't sing and they said they were going to audition for one such show, I would tell them honestly that they can't sing so they shouldn't go as they would only make a fool of themself.

What is funny about watching such idiots though? It is bad enough when they can't sing, but when they can't sing but think that they can it is worse, I can't watch it, it is awful.

There are a few I find funny but most I just find annoying because I feel like they know they can't sing but they are just on there pretending to be serious. It's like they are so bad they have to know they can't sing. I think the comic value comes from Simon Cowell when a bad audition happens some of the things that come out of his mouth are really priceless. A lot of people think he is the King of Mean but I absolutley love him.

I think it comes down to some people will do just about anything to get their fifteen seconds of fame on TV- including making fools of themselves.

not watched it. i dont even really like watching the original auditions.

i saw one bird doing the last x factor and it was actually making me feel bad watching how pathetic people could be when her full family were literally on their knees begging the judges to let her through when they didnt let her and she was one of the ones that didnt even have to open her mouth before you knew she wasnt going through.

btw about the kelly clarkson thing. she will/ would have had absolutely no say about wether her songs got used on the show or not. That's all in the hands of her publisher and i don't think any sensible publisher wouldn't allow their songs to be used. songs on telly = money. songs on pop idol = money + publicity.

the only reason i can see is that they didnt want any of the no marks at the auditions making the songs sound like shit so only wanting them sung when people who can manage them are through, which is a fair enough stance to take.
