Yes. How about deleting users accounts who have not signed in for a long long time? Lots of Internet sites do this. They delete peoples accounts if they do not use it. I think there about 500 people who have still yet to post here, if not more.

Also, how about perhaps deleting posts from the first year of jovitalk that no-one will ever view or make replies to again and maybe you could keep the ones that are at least currently active.

I think BSWJBJ have a system where after a certain amount of days, the older posts are deleted. Maybe this could be considered too? But we still kept our post totals.

Maybe see how it went for a little while. I mean maybe a Trial period and if the server was still clogged, then resort to this drastic action?

Cheers

Yes, but with the numerous amount of posting that occurs here on a daily basis, this is bound to happen again in a few months. The task of all of this deleting is just too daunting for Peter, who isn't able to be on here as much. One clean sweep will solve the problem for a long time and be less work for Peter.

Let me add that everyone has great ideas, but this has been a discussion for a while now. This was the only solution. I am sorry.

agree...it is very sad, first peter had to bring in a whole bunch of pop up advertisements to save DC and now this...

people seem to be more worried to lose the total posts, and i said this to kev already, but none of us know how this board things work.. isnt there a way to, after everyone come back to 0 posts, peter can give people the number of posts they had already? change the total posts of every user?? hmm just an idea, im almost sure that wouldnt be possible

Again, good idea that would take way to much time.
