Every year throughout October, leading up to Bonfire Night we are told and told again about the dangers of fireworks. All through school by teachers, by parents, by the media but still there are idiots who risk their, and more importantly other, innocent peoples lives by playing with these dangerous explosives. I have no sympathy whatsoever when I hear these stories of people being injured through playing with fireworks.
Ever since I was a child we've had a few small fireworks and we always do them in my grandparents garden (which is big enough) and do them at the end of the garden and stand back near the house, a safe enough distance away. I have young cousins now, one of whom is 5 years old and on the way to do our little display on Saturday she saw kids in the street playing with fireworks and though she is 5 she told me this and said how stupid and dangerous it is. She's 5 and has more sense than a few thousand teenagers across the country.
