yeah I can understand your point about society in general, but as I said Quebec society is really different, religion here doesn't have the same meaning... so I cannot said Quebec society will associate not religious to not moral...
(I mean we are talking about geing separated from Canada to form our own country so... we are usually not a society that can go with the flow!)

finally, inthe late 1960's, Quebec caught up with Peace and love (later them other country but we still did). We threw out this dictator and the chruch lost almost all tis power. we had this period call "Quiet Revolution" where we had a big revolution without killing people!

Today Quebec is a place were religion doesn't really exist at all. Even if some catholic chruch still remain, people under 70are usually not religious. Here i'm speaking about most 7 million people in Quebec. (From what I've Heard Quebec is not like the USA, where I've heard religion was still really present!)

The power of religion is gone, we don't make the association of if you;re not regilous, you are not moral! this association is dead, so that why from my view of a pure Qubec citizen , I cannto agree with you.

( now the governement is even considering to take out religion class (the only real vestige of the non-existent power of religion) out of school, so everybody would write their CV instead!)
That's interesting. Thanks for that. I didn't know that. Then why offer a course in religion in schools and not offer a course in atheism?

If they take your religion course out (if that happens), then the discussion is of course no longer relevant.

That's the thing. We have Catholic schools over here, but mine is just a normal comprehensive. By law, they have to do a certain amount of "comunity worship" which I have my own views on. The thing is, this is the college, i.e 16-18, where a lot in my year are now 18. I find it insulting to have this thrown on me, as I know that 90% of the people in my year aren't religious, and Christianity isn't the main religion in the college!!!!! It's not a religious education, or lesson, it's 'community worship', which is worse. I enjoyed Religious education because I think it's interesting, and important to understand different religions, however I think fourcing people to worship something they dont' believe in is wrong/.

WOW oh yes!!!
Quebec was built up at first to be a french colony, while the rest of canada was built after the British conquered Canada.

to make a long story short:
1534=French were there first, so they built french city in Quebec, 1763=British conquer, they kick the french out, now the british have a big land with only a couple of french city, so they send people in Ontario and the west, so the british could try to make more enlgish city to out-numbered the poor french left!

So basically british tried to erase all trace of anything link to France...

Quebec people resisted, they were french in their heart... they resisted long enough to survive in a not so friendly country, eventually in 1775 the british promise to leave quebec people alone if the quebec people did join the USA during the independence war! so quebec french people got their right to live their own "french-like" culture... ( so we sometimes says that if is was not for the British, quebec would be a part of the USA!)

what you can se here is that Quebec society grew in a climat that is very adversiarial!!! ( the rest of Canada like ontario where always british so they never fought to have their own culture recognise!)

today quebec culture kept that trace of its history... we have always fought to be our own. we are basically free, and independant people, we don't like to ruled... we like to speak french even if in North america we are almost alone with this language( even if our french is now so different from France!

I could go on for days, but basically, you can remember that we are proud of our french heritage and we will fight to death to protect it and not be assimilated in an anglophone culture !!!!

oh its great.... amazing ( but we have rally weird temperature. i n the winter its minus 40C and in the summer its plus 40C...)

we are still pretty free here, our governement usually take into account what we want! ( or at least there pretending well )

we have a constitution with a charter of right to ensure that all people are free, equal, and that there's no discrimination, that police power are limited....

still I know police and government can pretty much do what they want, but at least, here in quebec, the people have instrument to fight if the police or government is going crazy!

we are also party people we love to go out late and drink and eat good food... and most people here still LOVE BJ as much as in the 80s!!!
