Japan's cool in that it's so modern yet still steeped in traditional culture.

I was nearly studying meija period to post ww2 Japanese history at uni next year but I opted for 20th century russia instead

The only superstition I observe is that I try not to walk around with only one shoe on. I heard somewhere that's bad luck, and I guess it stuck in my head. Other than, my only contact with the paranormal is checking my horoscope.

I never heard of this one ...it's interesting i'll add it to the list ... I had friends from Vietnam Laos and Cambodia when I was in senior High School one of their superstition was to never put their shoes in a place above their heads ..in no way shoes should be located UP the head .. we were in a train and they all put their luggages under their seats or on the floor because of the shoes inside ....

my mother in law said its bad luck to cut your nails before doing a trip ....
