This may be true for your country, but the US is NOT a christian country. I don't know what the predominant religion is in the US, it may very well be christian, but that does NOT make this country a christian country.

With respect to the references to muslim countries and what they would do for you, I would like to know how you know that? Have any of you lived in a muslim country? Don't base your opinions on prejudice and bias. Unless you have lived or visited long enough a country of another faith, don't pass judgement as to what they would do for you. I have not been in Pakistan or Afghanistan, in fact the only muslim country I have been to is Turkey. I only visited, but I can tell you that the people were so extraordinarily friendly and nice to me that I was ashamed to think of how their people are treated in other countries (Germany for example). The people I have met - strangers mind you - bent over backwards to make me feel comfortable and happy.

I don't know about paying for certain food, I think those are petty problems. We face much bigger problems these days than to bicker about what kind of food we are serving in a hospital.

Again, to say happy holidays instead of merry christmas to someone you don't know is purely good manners - nothing more and nothing less.

I am really surprised to find that some people get offended by that.

After all - its not like any of them contribute to the economy in any way

it's a lowering of value. why should a predominently Christian country not be allowed to actually say the holiday that they're celebrating? as far as i know most other faiths who know about this situatiopn find it stupid as well but that doesn't stop the fact that people are tryign to stop us saying it.

whats offensive about sayign happy holidays? nothing at all just the same as me saying merry christmas isn't offensive, the Muslims here saying happy Ramadan or the Catholics across the road celebrating Communion.

NO ONE and i mean no one whatso ****ing ever has the right to try and limit or stop anyones opinion or ideals no matter what they may be.

i don't denounce religion in any form. i was in church on Christmas morning doign what everyone celebrationg it should be doing. Just because i have different ideas to what God entails as to what most religions do and i think religion causes alot of grief that wouldnt be around if religion wasn't dopesn;'t mean i'm against it.

You are underplaying the contribution & role Muslims have played & will continue to play in this country:

“ The interaction and the exchange of knowledge and ideas that have helped shape modern Britain started many centuries ago by Muslims,” he said. Sacranie gave examples of contributions made by Muslim mathematicians, scientists, astronomers, physicians and how this has influenced the development of the European civilisation. He stressed the importance of teaching these contributions in schools.
Trevor Phillips, also acknowledged Muslim contributions to British society and said that we still need to tell the story about the role Muslims have played “to make Britain what it is today”.
Neil Jameson of the Citizen Organisation, said that family values and decent behaviour are some of the contributions that Muslims are making to the society.

So why shouldn't they get any say & continue to be treated as outcasts??

An NHS in which they are paying taxes to help run should surely reflect their needs?

Although I agree by the same reasoning, we should continue to be allowed to celebrate Christmas how we see fit.
