It would offend a hindu if they were read the last rites yes. I think that is the point.
i meant someone of a religion being given the "sending off" so to speak that their religion deems appropriate being labelled as offensive to other religions.

THis country as with most countries is unable to fulfill the needs of most minorities with goverment money , so why does the need of halal meat get fulfilled?
Because at nearly 3 million they are not so much of a minority.

No hospital money is spent on xmas trees or decorations, all of this is provided for by charity. Perhaps the halal eaters should create themselves a charity to supply their food wishes.
Maybe a good solution. However it only replaces normal food, so it isn't that much of an extra expense.

I think you like to just say things for the sake of it, you know full well Mike that 3 million is considered a minority out of 60 million people, you know that the asian community is considered a minority in this country!
Yet 3 million is a significant amount of people that contribute to this country as much as you or I. And you are arguing that because they are a minority we should ignore their needs.
Yes I am arguing this, as they want to put their personal religious needs about the welfare of others basic learning and health care needs.
You can argue this with any religion.

Quote:
If they want to support their own needs then they should find another way like OTHER RELIGIOUS GROUPS have to, rather than having the goverment supply their needs. THis is not fair to the majority or to other minority groups.
All religious groups are entitled to apply for funding in the same way.

Muslims for example:

And you will find that the majority of muslim activities are funded by muslim groups, and many are in fact left out of funding.

I have never read so much rubbish on that message board. Tell you what Mike go out into your own community , you will find most muslim charities are funded by the goverment and the national lottery. The muslims are well known for not supporting their own charities and also for not organ donating to help their own communities.

Im off to cook my non halal dinner .

It is another end of the spectrum to yours - doesn't make it rubbish

All this talk of Halal meat is making me starving!!!! Whether it is meat from an animal that is slaughtered or not - anything would be nice now!!

I think it is more of an acceptance of other religions that we are aiming for.

yeah mike you've got to accept and "integrate" other religions but they've got to accept ours and this Christmas thing shows that's not always the case.
