Of course. Although I believe there is a frame for what is generally considered arrogant, in which I think I am with my opinion and you probably not. Your initial post kinda proves that to me.

No, as in arrogance = genuine, not by performance.

Good. I don't like my opinions to be in a 'generally considered frame'.

Oh, of course or else the word would be useless. The showing off performance is arrogance in my book.

Arrogant people view themselves above others and I find that deplorable. Knowledge and sharing knowledge in a general way has nothing to do with arrogance. Though, some might view it as such ... it just isn't.

Most arrogant people only 'think' they know more than others, completely blinded by their selflove, they cannot fathom that others might know just as much or more.

Can't stand arrogant people and have zero patience for them.

I agree with everything Maria said. I think of arrogance as going far beyond knowledge and "knowledge" is one of the last things I would associate with an arrogant person. People are arrogant over race, position, material possessions, sports, abilities, opinions, and looks too. I also believe that the amount of knowledge a person has in no way reflects their wisdom. Wisdom shines in the way a person lives their life, not in being able to give random facts about obscure events.

Arrogance is really not an attractive quality, esp in members of the opposite sex. You can meet a guy whos good looking, then as soon as you start talking to him and he cleary think hes gods gift, its the biggest turnoff in my book. Where I come from people like that get shot down pretty quickly.

Having intelligence and the knowledge to talk about something is a different matter, its how you put yourself accross to others. I hate it when people think that thier opinion is always the right one.

I read all pages before replying and I would say I totally agree here with Maria and Becky. I don't usually associate arrogance with money or how rich someone is, one of my bosses must be one the wealthiest people I have ever known and he is the kindest/sweetest person...

On another hand, I am surrounded by arrogant people at work. We have this guy that he wants to do things the way he wants, he doesn't care of the rest (as opposed to his peers), he looks at you as if you were the most disgusting insect and so on. Many of his peers are as intellegent or senior/important as he is but the main difference is that they share their knowledge, accept suggestions and are open to discussion. This guy never does any of these things. That's how I would describe arrogance or someone being arrongant, someone trying to impose himself/herself as the best or the only one no matter what.

I can't stand people who need to mark others' inferiority in order to mark their supposedly own superiority. I have found that the people who do have reasons to be arrogant are always extremely humble.
