Personnaly speaking , i think he is so very talanted but some how lacks some social skills . such as knowing when to keeps his mouth shut, also he does love the lime light and it would be foolish of him to ruin his carrer by telling this story so i just cant make up my mind on him

He's an id-yit! Too big for his own boots and unfit for England captaincy IMO.

yes he should have kept his gob shut, but his tackle on Thatcher was nothing but common sence, no way he should lose his captaincy for one late tackle. All the players look up to him and he is a excellent leader.

I'm not basing my opinion on that one tackle - he should have been dropped as captain after his beyond dismal performance throughout Euro2004. Add to that he isn't the best ambassador for English football (especially now!) and what more does Sven or anyone-else need for proof - there are better potential captains in the squad.

Get off his back!

even so i may not know as much about him as the UK guys do, i think kev is right that he is a legend. BUT there is a time to say good-bye for everybody, also for legends! and beckham did see better years than the last one or two. and then a legend also does not have to be the captain, maybe he will be better again, if he's free from that job, who knows? if he would have to fight for his position, maybe he could play he's best football again.
