OBE, MBE, CBE, KBE, Dame and Sir are all given to people by the Queen. She chooses them for what they have done for England/Britain. They all have different meanings, OBE stands for Order of the British Empire, MBE stands for Member of the British Empire, CBE stands for Citizen of the British Empire, I dont know what KBE stands for.
Some people are given these different titles for there duties in what they do, David Beckham for football, Jamie Oliver for cooking (hes done something in cooking and was recognised for it)

Knights do something that bit better basically for there country, Sir Sean Connery, Sir Steve Redgrave (Olympic 5x Gold Medalist) Sir Bobby Moore (World Cup 1966 football hero) Sir Elton John etc these all have outstanding achievments and have been recognised by the head of state.

Less known people get recognised as well not just famous people, they do get these titles for the work they do or have done.

Oh...thanks for clearing this up for me!

BTW, wouldn't KBE be a Knight of the British Empire?

LOL, i asked my dad and he said yeah. Now if you get Knighted you become a Sir, I dont know the difference between a knighthood and a KBE but they are different things.
