The DaVinci Code - Dan Brown
The Lake House - James Patterson
The Beach House - James Patterson

Got hooked by Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta and I'm finally reading Donna Tartt's The Secret History. Went also through my Roald Dahl collection, as I'm doing every now and then. Love that man's books!

Da Vinci Code & Angels & Demons, although you can see the recycling going on...
Yup, that is why I think I was disappointed with Davinci. Too much of the same thing from the first book.

So, after reading Mouse's encouraging reviews I've gone and bought myself Angels & Demons today I have a pile of books waiting to be read, so it'll have to wait, but hey - maybe next year it'll be in my best of 2005 list :P

It's good to see many people here liked it too. I wonder how it will be reading it after The Da Vinci Code instead of the other (and proper) way around

i needed to fill up some standards this year so the best ones were:
Umberto Eco - The Name Of The Rose (??? just translated the german book-title )
Victor Hugo - Les Miserables (sounds stupid- is amazing)
Sandor Marai - Embers
Samuel Shem: House Of Gods
Tolstoij: Anna Karenina (haven't finished yet- but the first 150 pgs. are great!)

the book that won't get any positive comments from me is milan kunderas' "The Unbareable Lightness of Being"

I agree, I couldn't stop reading it. I also read Angels & Demons but don't know why I liked Da Vince Code more (perhaps because it was the first one I read).

I'd say another good book imo is The Lovely Bones. It is quite sad but liked a lot the way the story is told.

I still haven't read Shadow but I'm hoping to read it during my holidays...
