I'd say another good book imo is The Lovely Bones.
I agree. That is an excellent book!! Quite sad, but a very good read.

Come to think of it I read a book my bro's got about a gig promoter from england in the 70s. a big part of it's just himt alking about random fights he got into where he was a bouncer but when he's talkign about the industry and who he put on n stories it's pretty interesting.

had a quick rebash of MacBeth before i went to see it. The finest piece of literature ever put to paper IMO.

I've read lots of great reviews on that book but whenever I go to the bookshop and get my hands on it the synopsis puts me off. Looks so sad...

I know...I was already in tears from the very first line. You should read it, I gave mine to a friend and she is loving it, although we agree it is quite sad.

BTW, I wanted to ask you about Something Rotten and Behind the Scenes...what type of books are they?

And, I didn't know there were two other Dan Brown's books...

I'll bear your suggestions in mind next time I find myself reading the synopsis of The Lovely Bones in a bookshop

Something Rotten is the fourth installment of a series of books revolving about Literary Agent Thursday Next. It's one of those plots you either love or hate. So it's very difficult to recommend them :P They're fit for people who love literature and have a thing for surrealistic (?) sense of humour. Very funny if you get into them. The author is Jasper Fforde (yep, two f's) in case you want to take a look at them next time you're in a bookshop.

And what can I say about Behind the Scenes at the Museum? Kate Atkinson is one of my favourite writers ever! She has a gift for conveying incredibly sad stories in a very amusing way - weird as that may sound. She has a few books around and any of them (maybe the worst being her lastest - Case Histories) is worth a read. This I think I can safely recommend since I've yet to find someone who doesn't like her books.

Hope that helps! Sorry if I got too carried away - but with books I always do

So I went today and bought myself that book as an early Christmas pressie to myself :P

Oh dear - my list is growing by the day I'll keep you posted on how I like it when I read it though

I'm a few dozen pages into Molon Labe by Boston T. Party (seriously, that's the guy's pen name). Excellent so far, I've read ahead and it looks like it's gonna get painful (inducing the emotions of sadness and anger) in a few more dozen pages. It's educational too, which is good. Read this book!
