Obviously I think that Hearts Breaking Even is the best break-up song. But it doesn't work for every situation, as I think Supersonic pointed out.

After the break-up, Someday I'll be Saturday Night is absolutely the one that I recommend - at that point, there's no point in listening to wistful ballads, but to something that will make you want to move on.
