MANOWAR- their style is NWBHM even they are AMericans. It's not that you had to be BRITISH to do that style!I know a lot of Romanian bands that played that too in the early 80s ...shall I call it NEW WAVE OF ROMANIAN HEAVY METAL?
I think the term NWOBHM was coined by some magazine to describe hard rock bands that came out from Britain in early 80s. Thus, since JP came out much earlier than that, it wasn't lumped into it. DL, by virtue of coming out in the 80s and making hard rock music was lumped into the genre. Ditto IM. DL's first 2 albums are hard rock, not as metal as Motorhead but much harder than their later works.

In other words, NWOBHM wasn't really a term coined for a specific style of music when it first came out. Now it's been used to describe bands with Iron Maiden/Motorhead style of metal, but it wasn't that way back then.

Bon Jovi is not NWOBHM simply because:
1. They did not start in the very early 80s like the other bands NWOBHM.
2. They aren't British

Oh yeah I forgot to say my vote: it's for Iron Maiden. This band totally destroys in live setting.

Default devilsonn you got your hade so far up your ass!!!!!1

you called me sick for pointing out J PRIEST were around in 1974-1976. Well, Rocka Rolla, their first lp was released in 1974- JP were formed in 1969, See http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/judas_priest/bio.jhtml
you shouldn't read crap, but get your facts right. Yomamasofat at least knows his facts. New wave of British heavy metal was a term coined by one of the rock writers from "Sounds " -a weekly rock tabloid that was around in the 70;s /80's. He used the term to describe lots of young heavy rock/metal bands from Britain who were forming up to play gigs around the uk.,around 1981 to 1982 I think the writer then went onto Kerrang rock magazine.
hell, might also surprise you to know that motorhead were thought of as a punk band in 1978-79 (before heavy metal was coined as such.)
so get your facts right
Manowar were chased from an early gig in England in the 80's cos the audience thought they were a bunch of american fags.

I know Judas's firts albums came out in the 70s...so what.
Shall I call GRUNGE bands that came out 2002 not GRUNGE just because GRUNGE was a style that characterized the early 90s.
i really meant that kind of METAL that all bands in the list play or used to play.
Now which one is the best?
