How can it be deemed anything but rude to try to force your beliefs upon others?

well spotted

to me forcing ones belief is:

couple of years ago I hung out with a group of folk and one was a girl who was a heavy catholic, no sex before marriage and what not.

everytime we'd be at a party she'd start ranting on about how I should be ashamed because I'd had sex and wasn't married/ fell out with the person since / was going against the bible and going to hell. I was like:

1, i'm not a catholic why the **** would i care anyways
2, it's a bit late, why the **** would i care anyways
3, you do shit i don't agree with (like annoying me with this bollocks) but i don't jump down your throat about it and why the **** would i care anyways.

to me NOT forcing ones belief is:

door goes, i answer

Jehovah dudes: hi we're from the church of latter day saints

Jim: hi we're not interested to be honest

Jehovah dudes: ok could we just ask why if you don't mind

Jim: im not religious and everyone in the house who is are comfortable with their beliefs

Jehovah dudes: thanks very much sorry for troubling you.

now had it been during the OC i might have been pissed off

exactly!!!

Nothing worse than random people showing at my doorsteps demanding I open the door for them. No matter what religion they push.

Exactly. I am very anti-religious, not simply atheist but strongly against it, but I don't go door to door telling people that.

Yet you keep posting on here on how silly religion is. That's forcing it a tad too.

I don't like people who are "open" about religion anyway. They make me feel unconformtable. I think religion or religious beliefs should be kept to oneself. No door-knocking, no leaflets, no preaching. But apart from that I think everyone should be left to believe what they see fit - be it God, be it Martians, be it the Cookie Monster.

This is a discussion on religion, I was simply stating what I thought of it, I was not sending PMs to people to try to "convert" them as I have had sent to me from others here.
