Totally agree. Blues Brothers is great. I recently bought the DVD, there are some additional scenes that I had never seen before. Great film, one of the best car chases ever in that mall!!

PS: this should be in the film forum!!!

DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT

does ur version have subtitles on it? the one he gave me was a collecters edition or something and it had that monstrosity of the blues brothers 2000 on it but it had subtitles all the way thru the original film for some reason.

i cud probably have got them off but there was no menu or nuffin u just put the dvd in and it started playing and i was already half drunk and still had alot of cider to get thru so i wasnt too fussed

i didnt even know there was a film forum but the blues brothers is so much more than a film that it cant even be put besides mere mortals like the matrix

<--- the blues brothers

My DVD has Blues Brothers 2000 too, haven't actually watched it yet.. the way you talk about it, I don't think I should!
Yeah, I had subtitles. I always turn them off though, except if I'm very lazy and then I'll put English subtitles on!!

Classic movie. I actually have the orignial script somewhere at home!

These are some of my fave quotes:

(Elwood & Jake in the old police car that Elwood uses to pick up Jake after getting out of prison)
ELWOOD: You don't like it?
JAKE: No I don't like it.
(Elwood floors it and jumps over an open drawbridge)
JAKE: Of course it's got a lot of pickup.
ELWOOD: It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Blues Mobile or what?
(Jake after lighting a cigarette)
JAKE: Fix the cigarette lighter.

ELWOOD:It's a 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
JAKE: Hit it!

Jake : We're putting the band back together.

Elwood : What kind of music do you usually have here?
Claire: Oh, we got both kinds. We got country *and* western.

I love the restaurant scene too where Jake and Elwood are behaving like total pigs to get Mr Fabulous? to come back to the band! lol

The restaurant scene is great!

Jake: How much for the little girls???

I also love when they go to the souldfood place and Aretha Franklin is telling her husband what these crazy white dudes want.

The fat one wants 4 fried chickens and a coke. Matt: Jake! The skinny one wants toasted white bread, with nothing on it. Matt: Elwood! S***, The Blues Brothers!!

Nothing wrong with seeing that film 15 times. It's my favourate film of all time and I too own the DVD with extras and Blues Brothers 2000.

I like it how Jake and Elwood get their apartment blown up by Jake's ex-girlfriend and just get up and brush themselves off without even a "what the.........was that?". It's as if they either don't care, or just are not surpirssed at all. Its also good how Jake manages to sweet talk her when they are escaping from the Palace Hotel Ballroom, and he kisses her and dumps her down in the sewer, and says. "Ok, let's go".

"It's 106 miles to chicago. We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."

"Hit it!"

Great film. I might watch it again now.
