Default Bill Hicks

Any fans of the late great stand up Bill Hicks? I think he was/is a genious, though I only discovered him a few years ago. A friend of mine lent me the Totally Bill Hicks DVD and it was just amazing. Not just how funny it was, but how right he is about everything! Since then I've bought Totally, Relentless and Sane Man on DVD and I've seen One Night Stand and they are all incredible! Haha!!

I know tell me about it! But what I find wierd (and sad in a way) is that in THAT sense, his material doesn't date. You can listen to Hicks rant on about the Irag war and George Bush SR from 1991 and think if you just change the name from SR to Jr and Major to Blair there you have it, timeless.

He would have had a LOT to say today.

Why oh why was I born too late!!!

i know what you mean you are right it is still all relevant and like you say he was right about everything. have you seen the one where he went totally mental at some woman in the audience and got security to throw her out?
and the hitler one too?

i never heard him either until he had died. my friend played me some of the smoking stuff one day and i was hooked. imo no one comes close as a stand up

It is all too easy to make fun of Bush, the gift of Bill is that he would be doing it 1000% funnier than anyone else in the world.

Just compare him to a modern stand-up like David Cross, who can educate, shock a little and make you laugh, but falls a thousand yards short of Hick's gift.

Bill had a stunning talent with words, was a master story teller and had a true heart of gold (when he knew he was dying, he made his girlfriend a plastercast of his hands - without doubt the sweetest thing I ever heard!). He could lead anyone down the darkest of alleyways in the name of highlighting a bad example.

On which note, he once played infront of JBJ, staring daggers at him for being a corporate whore all night.

I find it hard to reconcile my love for both of them sometimes!

But, jesus christ noone has ever made me laugh so much....

HAHA! Yes I've seen that one with the woman being chucked out! My mate downloaed it a while ago and yeah, he goes NUTS even by his standards. I loed it when a guy in the audience shouts the same thing to him ("Hicks you suck!") and Bill says something like "That's ok that was a nice gentleman back there!" LOL.

I've seen the Clive Anderson interview he did aswell and you can tell that Bill thinks Clive Anderson is a twat.

The Sane Man DVD is IMO the best DVD as Hicks is on top form and the DVD includes loads of additional bootleg stuff. Totally is good but I realise now having seen all the other DVD's and listening to live albums, that he's not quite as on fire as on other shows, but "Goat Boy" is legendary!!! And Relentless is also good, but it's only 70 minutes long and no extras. One Night Stand is also good but it's only 30 minutes long and it's pretty much the same as what's on the other DVD's. I might buy it to complete my collection if I find it REALLY cheap somewhere.

If you can find a bootleg of that London show, grab it with both hands. Only a fraction of the Goat Boy stuff made the official video!

didnt know he had done that what a great guy. the greatest thing i guess was his abilty to take a serious issue talk about seriously in depth without predudice and then hit you with the irony or hypocrisy and you just find yourself laughing and agreeing with everything he said. ie smartfood

It used to be on a stream at Billhicks.com, but sadly no more... If you find it, let me know!

It's definitely worth checking the torrent sites for bootlegs, though.
