Iv had memory exactly the same, causing the exact same problem. This was last Xmas. It was a mystery to me at first as well. Unfortunately, it cannot be fixed (as far as i know) There are programs you can get to test each memory stick individually, but if it has errors (one of my sticks apparently had overr 12,000 errors) then t will need to be replaced. RAM usually comes with a long guarantee, so I would take the memory back and get a replacement. Thats just what I did and its been fine since (touch wood).
