Default Board policy

Sounds like facism to me. "We do what we want, we don't have to discuss it with anyone".

Has it ever occured to you that you might be wrong sometimes? Like with the Gaz's thing? Being a mod doesn't make you super-human. Being a mod shouldn't allow you to choose what we can or cannot write or read on this board.

If you think a topic is split, then split it, don't delete it. It's not like it's too much work.

If you think the posts are filled with inappropriate name-calling, then edit the posts. That's your "job".

I have to agree with this. I think closing posts and deleting them is just silly. We are all grown ups. If something is inappropiate then edit.

I realise that the mods are there to make sure that everything runs smoothly, but this "ultimate power" thing is taking it a little too far!

Also have to agree.....fact is the more you delete the more threads get started anyway. Does a topic really have to be trashed in every case??

Yep, this topic was created because the mods always get the last word when they lock a topic. So, if you lock this one, there will be a new one.

Ok this is *their* playground, rest of us are just visiting. Some people don't do well with being able to control. Some lift themselves so that they appear as important people. If by nothing else, then by using their "power" just cos they have it. In board like this, the only way those people can act superior is to overrun ideas/opnions/point of views of others. That brings us to, locking & deleting.

-----
Kev's pointers:

A few other little pointers:-

- When a thread is locked. It is locked.
- When a thread is trashed. It is trashed.
- It is not for arguments sake.
- If other 'Why' threads get created. They will also be either locked or trashed.
- Moderators do not NEED to give explanations.
- Moderators decision(s) are final.

he did forget one important one:
- when mod is an a**hole, he/she *is* an a**hole. And that's final.

----

As Kev pointed out, mod is never wrong. Mod never makes bad/wrong decisions. Like every tyrant in history. Only this time, it's about silly kids.

Keep in mind that People do argue, that's it. No matter how many threads u kill, it won't change.

Yes you do need to give an explanation. You mods are most of the time chosen by the other users. Also, the policy is made that way that most users agree with it. If any mod starts to make weird decisions by their own a user should be allowed to ask why something was done and a moderator should be able to clarify why he did it. This should always be in the boards sake. Not because a moderator dislikes something - a thing that happens often with Sambi-Chris, and has happened a few other times with you, Kev, as well. This makes it a power trip and it's got nothing to do with moderating a board.

Also, a moderators decision isn't final. Yes a mod decides, but if the other regular users disagree a moderator should make his action (a for example deleted or locked post) undone. If a moderator does not do this, it's got nothing to do with moderating, but it's all about a power trip.

So:

Unless people complain about it. Then a moderator should apologize and admit he/she was wrong and undo it's action.

No it's not. That's complete bollox. There's a trash can hidden for the regular users and you can always put back a "deleted" topic. Duh.

This all looks for arguments sake for me. A mod who doesn't apologize and doesn't admit he/she is wrong is obviously trying to cause an argument.

Where's the freedom of speech then? What you're saying is you can't discuss a moderators decision, because a moderator is always right. Yeah right. Just admit it Kev, you're wrong. And it's not the first time you're in the line of fire. But just because you're on your power trip when it comes to drycounty.com doesn't mean it should concert the rights and freedom of speech from other users.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Why can't there be any why threads? If mods make a decision, I'm sure they can back it up with some valid arguments. And ofcourse mods don't _have to_ give an explanation, but it is what decent people do and it won't do them any harm if they did. And it would prevent a lot of topics being opened.
