It's not about winning fans, it's about proving that even when the place is on high alert they can still get in, showing that they aren't afraid to do so, the idea being to make the media again and make people more afraid.
You got it!! They are trying to relay the message, "You aren't safe not matter how hard you try. We can still get to you."
Yup. They dont give a S*it about winning fans, theyre F*cked in the head, when someone is using theyre own body as a bomb theres not much you can do to prevent it. It doesnt help though when Britain lets people in who go and teach this to people, esp as most other countries have turned them away.

They could also attack places like Manchester, Birmingham or Liverpool I suppose but because London is the capital it gets everyones attention more I think.

Just as New York got the attention with 9/11 because it is a major city, recognised easily around the world. I'm not saying such a big event as that wouldn't have caused the same worldwide spectacle if it had been anywhere else, but attacking a major city, which is packed with people, just again shows how they can do anything at any time and we can't stop them.

Yeah, of course Brooke. But I dont see why they refuse to attack Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool etc. They could still create pure havoc in any of these cities. Cities who are on less high alert. Cities where they are more likely to succeed in what they are doing.

Yeah, thats a point, I often forget to bring up. Why are so many of them allowed in our country, when if we go over there...we are shot? Why does our government let them get away with it? Give them brand new homes, and jobs?

That is a question I often ponder regarding the US too.

If you want to make a huge international impact - you go for London, plain & simple.

There's going to be a press conference soon but I wonder why the guy they shot today was shot so many times if it was claimed he was either running or fell to the ground. The only reason they would have shot him I think is if he posed an immediate threat, ie he had a gun or a bomb or something on him. Otherwise I'm sure 3 armed officers could easily detain him long enough to get backup and have him taken for questioning.

someone who's prepared to blow a train full of people up loose in a crowd of people is got to be presumed armed and extremely dangerous even if he isn't.

Security experts say the police pretty much copied how the Israeli's take down suicide bombers and shot him in the head so as not to explode anything on him so he might have had a bomb or at least thought to have one on him.

Anyways as far as it goes. it's looking more and more like an al qaeda job that royally ****ed up. Good for several reasons. it's a serious propaganda blow for them. one bomb ****ing up is bad enough, 4 at the same time, the guys running, pretty much getting caught and leading to more people involved is inevitable and it's shown that they can't and won't always succeed

i wonder how many young guys in extremist circles are starting to think... hmmm maybe getting shot in the head 5 times isn't really something I fancy going through I think I'll get out of this game.

And blowing yourself up is?

Don't know if they're that 'easily' impressed. Look what the Israeli's are
doing, did it help stop suicide bombers from blowing themselves up? Nope.

well getting shot in the head doesn't open up the arms of Allah and his 72 virgins whereas blowing yourself up apparently does
