At the Backstage site, it's basically gone to the point where if you say that you're against the war, you're automatically anti-American and more or less pro-Saddam as well. If you say that since so many people are already praying for the U.S. Troops you're sending your thoughts to the people of Iraq, you're automatically wishing death on the U.S. Troops.

I think ideally people are hoping more than anything else that the people of Iraq (soldiers) will surrender and that America will be facing a depleated army, who they'll defeat with minimal casualties. . . .
This will be true for some people, as I'm sure there will be people who don't want to fight for Saddam, but I'm guessing that there will be more who do than don't.

I'm anti war, and also anti American foreign policy, I think they can neglect their influence and power at times. Without being anti American, I am anti Bush, and have no confidence in his judgement, integrety, and well lets face it, inteligence!

I don't think anybody wants a war, but I can understand people supporting a war, which is a different thing. I don't, and I think the majority (cetainly in England, 70% form the poll's I've seen) are against this action....

This whole thing doesn't matter anymore, the war has started, our voices have been drownd by the people who are ment to be representing us.... Let's hope this day isn't going to be the mark of a long, bloody, and costly war

don't want to sound hippyish but I'm just of the opinion that if everyone else kept to themselves there'd be no trouble

European commercial ventures dating to the late 17th (if not earlier) centuries culminated in the series of wars leading up to 1914 - much more about religious/imperialist conflict... imperial strongly linked to capitalist of course

2nd world war - economic reasons

vietnam - economic reasons

korea - econommic reasons

i see it as yet another commercial/economic war - whereby the US (peace-keepers or not) are going to be the main benefactors

all the contracts to rebuild Iraq will go to US companies/businessmen...

it's not JUST about oil - it's about commercialism and economic power as a whole
