I suggest you do the same, Tom's argument is a fair one. The ecological problems that Germany were contending with sparked this turn to the more extreem parties. The fact that Germany was struggling, and it seemed to many people that democracy wasn't working, there was a deffnate turn towards the more extreem parties, just look at the voting figures from 1918, as Germany's economy, particularly during the second depression, fell into depression, there was an increase in the extreem right and left. The economic problems drew Germany into wanting a new government, one who promised to make the country great again... i.e restore it's economy........If Germany's economy was stable, then I'm sure the Nazi's wouldn't have been able to get into power, and the nessesity for provoking a war woudln''t have been there. Obviously this is only a very basic view, and could be elaborated on, but you can't dismiss the economy in relation to a war....

Look at America at that time. It was only after the second world war that their economy fully recovered.

Think about Frances involvement in Iraq now. It's been suggested more than once (i.e as far as I'm awear this is the case) that America has said that as France haven't supported action, they won't be able to be part of rebuilding Iraq. This means a big financial loss for France. America will benefit, as they will not only have a much more stable government, who will cooperate with America, which will be good for it's economy, but as Tom said, they'll also be instigating the whole rebuilding program, which will bring billions to American buisness, and thus help their economy substancially. This at a time when America has been weary of a possiably ressesion.

I'm sure that America woudln't be getting involved with Iraq if it wouldn't be good for their economy. I don't think this is the main reason, more of a nice insentive.

yes in part for economic reasons...

great depression > pushes people away from democracy to nationalist movements with their roots in the Volkisch movements of the 1880s/90s and music of Wagner etc...

US got into war for economic reasons - they were happy with lend-lease - then their ships started being sunk = ie. they were losing trade...

I recommend :

a) you tell me what one singular solitary history book it may be that you've read on the subject

b) you consult a psychiatrist

c) you tell me why it started

i suggest you actually do some reading on the subject

you'll find there's probably not 2 historians in the world who agree entirely with one another's arguments

Against.

Bush scares me. I don't trust him and his judgements. How can you spit on International Law? The UN is there to deal with this kind of situations and he totally ignores them and their experience.

since international law has been broken does that technically mean that US/British etc troops are actually war criminals ?
