That's right. Bono can do as many good deeds as he wants, but it seems sort of vain the way he is always trying to be in the spotlight.
The point of celebrities getting involved in such actions is to use that spotlight they're in. The more Bono is in the spotlight for his charity stuff, the more people will be aware of the causes he's fighting for, and the more people will help and support. So what if his ego gets boosted along the way?

The question is; why does Bono need to put his face on the line? There are people helping as much as he does without ever showing their faces in the charity events. He could just finance an advertising campaign for example. Or help in other ways. I don't believe his face is going to help as much as he seems to think it does. In fact, I think it might hurt some of the things he works for. He's kind of become a joke, like Sting and the rainforests in the 80s.

I'm sure he doesn't just show up but also finances stuff and does other things we never hear of. When he's in the spotlight it's mainly for causes like 3rd world debt which concerns politics in countries like ours and meeting politicians in the spotlight is another way to put pressure on our leaders.
