Everyone probably knows this by now but Rik Mayall sadly passed away yesterday, aged 56.

Awful news.

I grew up watching Rik. He pretty much shaped my sense of humour and would always make me laugh no matter what. He was such a great talent. He played absolute devient baffoons like Richie in Bottom but made you feel sorry for them at the same time which isn't easy.

Goodbye, Rik. You'll live on forever.

He was one of my few "heroes" growing up. Bottom was my "naughty" show that I was never allowed to watch as a child, but my parents eventually let me and watched it themselves. What I loved about Rik was he was just as insane in real life as the characters he played. Ade Edmondson on the other hand is more "normal" and well-spoken compared to Vivian or Eddie Hitler.

And of course, Lord Flashheart!

So saddened by the sudden and unexpected death of Rik Mayall. Truly a comedy legend...Bottom was one of the shows I adored as a teenager. I went to see all the Bottom Live shows and I have honestly never laughed so much in my whole life....I had tears running down my face and my cheeks hurt by the end of the night. Great times

RIP Rik.

Was gutted to find out he died. Literally 5 mins before I found out, I mentioned his name. Strange!

Ended up watching Drop Dead Fred the weekend after he died and it was quite sad when he was saying the whole goodbye speech. Grew up watching Rik Mayall from a really early age and all of my family love him.

Big loss! Even bigger shame that we will never get a new Bottom Series which they tried to do but didn't go ahead.

It didn't go ahead because Ade Edmondson pulled out of the project to pursue other interests. Shame really cause at the time it seemed very close to happening. They were going to do a series set on the famous "Hooligans Island". A fourth series was written shortly after Series 3 but the BBC weren't interested, which surprised me.

I know mate. A change of heart may have happened at any time, though.

Just a shame that we will no longer see Rik on anything new.
