Default Bridget Jones pants fetch £2,000

A pair of outsized underpants featured in the film Bridget Jones's Diary have sold for £2,000 at a charity auction.

Actor Hugh Grant, who appeared in the 2001 movie with Renee Zellweger, had signed the undergarment with the words: "Hello Mummy! Lots of love and kisses."

The sale took place at a gourmet dinner held in Hyde Park in central London. Songwriter Sir Tim Rice was among the celebrity guests at the event, held in aid of the Royal Parks Foundation. The winning bidder was not identified.
