President George Bush is seeking funds for a controversial project to drive gas pipelines from pristine rainforests in the Peruvian Amazon to the coast.

The plan will enrich some of Mr Bush's closest corporate campaign contributors while risking the destruction of rainforest, threatening its indigenous peoples and endangering rare species on the coast.

Among the beneficiaries would be two Texas energy companies with close ties to the White House, Hunt Oil and Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), a subsidiary of Vice-President **** Cheney's old company, Haliburton, which is rebuilding Iraq's oil infrastructure.

The pipeline slices through some of the most biologically diverse places on earth. Their remoteness has preserved an extraordinarily rich ecosystem in the coastal Paracas reserve, which is home to such rare species as Humboldt penguins, sea lions and green sea turtles.

The Camisea natural gas project - with reserves of 13,000 billion cubic feet of gas - has already scared off two big investors, Citigroup and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. According to an internal report by the US Export Import Bank, obtained by the lobby group Amazon Watch, proposals to mitigate the environmental impact of the project are "woefully inadequate" and will lead to mudslides, destroy habitats and spread diseases among indigenous peoples.

I agree with you. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what what I said, the night when he declared we were invading Iraq. Then they showed pics of Baghdad in flames, air raid sirens going off, people running, so many explosions the horizon was pure red... I don't think I can put into words how I felt.

Bush is an idiot.
In fact, the only problem I have is that someone on here called me a gimp and then called Bush a gimp. NOW, I have a problem being called a gimp. Don't you ever put me in the same category as that silver-spooned, lead-tongued mental midget.

I'm still waiting for someone, anyone to find WMD to justify this war.
You might think you're CLEVERER than you really are but you'll be hardpressed to find a post when I'm claiming I support Bush.

It's the morons who insist upon referring to us as Yanks, presuming all Americans are behind Bush or that we all fall into the stereotypes you thrive upon believing in that I have the problem with. If all the stereotypes you choose to believe keep you from visiting our shores that's fine. Our little plan is working.

Well for once it seems that we Americans are all in agreement on something. We belong to the majority who didn't vote for Bush. I for one would not go so far to say he should be shot - but I'd sure like to see his ass out of office - and before he does too much more damage.

He should be made to answer for sending American soldiers (and encouraging British as well, and all the other troops in Iraq) off to die without proper justification.
He should have to send his own sorry ass over instead of the children of US citizens.
He should have to send his daughters over to fight. Or maybe, have them marry a military man then send his son-in-laws over in great peril.

Bush is not a Texan. He was born in New Haven, CT to the wealthies of wealthy and WASPiest of WASP blue-bloods. He's no more Texas than Madonna is British.

They impeach Clinton because he lied about screwing around with an intern.

When he has a majority as large as he did during the war, its hard not to lump the Americans who form that majority into the same category as him. & esp. those who see Blair as some sort of great statesman & wanted to give him a s****** medal.
