Well, I'm quite happy to do the mix down, got all the software to do it and quite familiar with multitracking in it- though first to admit I'm no sound engineer! If anyone more experienced wants to do it then or if you are up on this, ice, then by all means, anyone could have the raw tracks. Otherwise you take pot luck with my ears!

Of course, more than one of us could mix it and we could just use whatever track comes out best- imagine that different people may want different mixes for themselves anyway- i.e. so people might want a mix of only their instrument all the way through.

Click would be handy - Especially for songs that have drum breaks in them. Any chance of a separate click on your recording, Jim?

Distinct lack of Keyboarders apart from myself so far --- save Dry County from a track full of my unique timing, keys people! come and put down a track as well!

No, I don't want to mix it, I just wanted to know if anybody had thought of it.

I vote for click track, it's near-impossible to record with multiple people without it.

doing a click trick is no problem as long as it's easy enough for you to line the other tracks up with it wayne.

i really have no clue about doing stuff on computers but i'd send you through:

a track with nothing but the click

a track with nothing but the drums that has been recorded along with the click but had it taken out

then any other track i ended up laying down whether it be guitar, bass keys vox or whatever with the same idea, recorded along with the click and drums but with those faded out.

when it goes onto laptop there'll be a difference in the amount of dead time at the start of each seperate track though so you;d have to shuffle them around a bit on the timeline to get everything lined up perfectly with the click.

once you have that all you need to do is send through the click and drum tracks to whoever else is in, they do the same and record along to it then fade the click and drums tracks out and send just what they've recorded back to you (maybe with the 8 clicks in the intro left in just so you can line it up easier.

Yeah, as long as everyone leaves me that in the intro I'll line it up fine. Shame we couldn't all use the same software - Audition and Guitar tracks allow you to send a file with the multitracks split up ... but that would be a bit of a nightmare to get everyone using the same thing- The click intro will work just as well.

Cheers for the productive input there. FYI there are two main ways to record in a studio - when you record to a click, almost everything is done separately - hell, I didn't even record the same day as my old guitarist and singer for the same track. Of course, you'll already be aware of how it all works with your extensive band experience.

yup since there's not hundreds of thousands of people bouncing tracks to each other all over the world as i'm typing this

in fact ive just read a thread on another muso board where a dozen collaborations with people on the board on songs has been put online. kinda like ummmm......... THIS ONE!!!

but i digress,

we can assume your disdain for the idea is your roundabout way of saying you're not interested which is fine by me. we wouldn't want the sound of youtube video's recorded onto a mobile phone bringing down the tone of the project

k i'm goign with in these arms for my idea of a tune to do.

lots of cool guitar parts for everyone, the solo can easilly be repeated so however many guitars we've got get a chance to rip on it, the drums are fun enough to keep me happy and for the benefit of wayne, it's one of those rare ones that you actually realise bon jovi have a keyboard player

"that's far too complex for it to ever work" pretty much sounds like you saying it's impossible

but i digress.

doing 1 or two tracks each is much less time consuming than doing a bunch on their own plus it's not as interesting to see how it all comes together.

if you think it's a stupid, strenuous or pointless endeavour then by all means piss off and leave us too it.
