My homerecording opportunities are pretty bad, but I could try to get my own accoustic arrangement of Prayer on "tape", resp. recorded. I personally like it a lot

I could play Lead on it. If I get my recorder up, that is.

Thanks for joining in - We would really all have to play the same track - and as cool as acoustic prayer is, it doesn't really leave a lot of scope for a lot of people to take part.

When we all agree on a track though , it'd be cool if you could lay something down for it!

Excellent! be nice to have a few different guitarists on the track.

I'm happy with anything! This is a decent track with a fair spread of everything. Although the suggestions have been flying in quite fast. IIWYM, a demo ... Guess it's just a case of picking one and seeing how it goes! If it comes off there's no reason we couldn't stick down another one!

Oh, as a general note, I'm sure everyone knows this but from some of the comments I just want to make sure! - You are gonna have to make your recording directly on some digital medium - I.E. directly through a soundcard on a computer or onto a recordable MD or something. Even sticking this on some kind of studio quality tape recorder then transferring it onto computer is not going to work when it comes to synchronising everything up.

but i digress.

doing 1 or two tracks each is much less time consuming than doing a bunch on their own plus it's not as interesting to see how it all comes together.

if you think it's a stupid, strenuous or pointless endeavour then by all means piss off and leave us too it.
dont swear at me you loser

Hey Thierry - thanks for giving it a shot- Should be interesting to see what sort of track we make out of it at the end!

So, to prevent the whole thing going stale, shall we get started?

Are we going with Jim's suggestion of "In These Arms" or does anyone else have an idea that hasn't been thought of?

Well, I kinda figured that once we had a track in mind, Jim could lay down the drums. Then we'd send it to the bassists who would record a complete track each and send that back to me, then it'd go to the rhythm people (If there are any!) Keyboards, lead guitars, lead singers then backing vocalists. Then I'll cobble the whole lot together.

It'd be handy if you could lay down a bass line as well as guitar and whatever else you fancy, ice... I'm still trying to track down a bass player.

I mean, technically anyone could record as many layers on different instruments as they wanted and as long as they were sent as separate files we could edit them no problem.

i'm getting confused now i record everything onto a standalone digital 12 track then mix it down onto a file on my laptop.

is that going to work?

i have absolutely no clue about recording directly to computer but i assumed this would just be a case of opening up everyones audio files and dropping them onto whatever multi track programme you've got?...
