is that going to work?
Yeah, that'll work - sorry to be confusing - I just meant that if anyone thought about using tape - even professional studio stuff -that wouldn't work. You could record it onto anything digital and move it across to computer, but you are always going to get slight inconsistencies with physical stretching / motor speeds with any old school equipment!

good good.

are we going to designate parts or what? if there's going to be a bunch of solo's or piano parts added in i'll need to know where and for how long to extend the song. i think leavign everyone to their own devices could wind up disastrous.

but i digress.

i'll leave it up to you guys to decide what tune we're going to do i']ve just finished recording the last of 18 backing tracks i've done in 3 seperate session over the last few days and i dont even want to look at any piece of recording gear for the forseeable.

I wouldn't second guess yourself, Jim - If you record the drums as is for whatever song we agree on then the beauty of having a separate click is that I can merely chop a solo from one track and paste it into the main track if we need to extend anything.

So instead of saying to someone "You play this verse" or "You play the solo" I was suggesting that everyone plays the entire track with their instrument, so at the end I might have 5 versions of the song with 5 different lead guitars for example. Then I can chop and mix parts throughout to make up one track... And also send back a complete track to each individual with only their track featuring in the song.

Is this beginning to sound as clear as mud already?

As long as everyone takes the drum track they are given originally and plays to it then nothing should go wrong!

... famous last words.

Well, looks like we should make a decision!

Is it ITA, IIWYM, Fear, A demo? - let's try and get something like a consensus in the next 5 or 6 hours!

Anything goes for me. I'll play guitars, bass and vocals for any track.

Well I may be not able to contribute - my broadband is being disconnected soon because I havent been paying it. (I have been paying it, it's a screw up somewhere )

And I'm not sending huge files over a 3G card connection or the crap connection they have at the 'net cafe.

Only one problem. I'm not used to playing Jovi songs. The only song I know all the way through is Prayer. I usually play Van Halen and Cinderella covers.

I'm with Russ on the 'in a few months'- at the moment the only Jovi I can play is the intro to Wanted. I know he chords too but I'm not at smooth transitions stage yet. Maybe I can contribute to something at a later stage. As for now I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys put together. I'll be a cheerleader until I can join in properly

Alright, I guess I got the concept now.

So, if there's already plenty of guitarists available, I guess the only thing I can do is add some fills here and there. If I can get the recording to work, that is.

But, I'd say the idea of recording a demo is great. How about the original HAND - with the breakdown? We could use the "final version" riff, solo and lyrics but keep the breakdown. Same with Undivided - keep the two solos, but use the final lyrics. That'd be pretty cool.

As far as proper demos, my vote goes to Love Is War.
